A Brooklyn man was sentenced Monday to 18 years ​behind bars for raping his 8-year-old stepdaughter — who kept the sickening sex attack a secret until revealing it in a college-application essay nearly a decade later.

Albert Tarrats, 62, remained mum throughout his sentencing in Brooklyn Supreme Court, but prosecutor Anna Krutaya read a statement from his victim, who ​wrote that she’s still haunted by his monstrous crimes.

“Getting closure and justice on this horrific situation is the best thing I could have gotten from this experience,” the now-18-year-old woman wrote.

One thing you all need to take into consideration. This was his stepdaughter. What have we learned here at FR? The worst thing a child can hear is “Mommy’s new boyfriend” (or Daddy’s new girlfriend)

A stepparent is more likely to commit abuse like this than a real parent.

There’s gotta be more to the story than the Post is reporting. Even the ultra-lefty courts in NY aren’t going to throw the guy in prison without some kind of actual evidence. At least not yet.

Which in no way responds to my post in which I noted that until the FemiNazi Era, evidence was required. “He said” v. “She said” had too many instances of miscarriage of justice, especially when many years had elapsed.

Many children were molested when they were young. It went unreported or was just not caught but the children know it happened. So when years later the child/adult speaks out how are they suppose to “prove” it? Am not trying to go on a witch hunt here but at the same time families have had “dirty little secrets” kept hidden that need exposed.

She says he did it, he says he didn't. After ten years more or less, I can't imagine what other evidence there could be. The article mentions none, just a jury trial and a conviction of a man with no prior record. The fact that she didn't report this offense at all, and even says her intention was to write an essay for a college application, allows for negative inference.

If we start putting people away merely because an individual fits a statistical sample, we will have left the very concept of justice behind, and ventured out onto dangerously thin ice.

To many factors already are against this accusation being true. The primary
reason for a false accusation in this case would be College Essay, attention.
To convict a man from a College Essay and hearsay is an abomination of justice.

I'm not buying it. She was grabbing attention by a crazy essay and
since people believed it she just went along with it to the extreme while
being coached by some nutjob feminist. Yea, they do that.

We don't know all the details but I'm calling False accusation here.
Child abuse is very serious and down right dirty, and this one is just to clean.

Were you at the trial? You have no idea what other evidence was presented. Maybe she identified a mole on his weewee. Maybe the mother “knew” but turned a blind eye.
