These films across genres and decades show American exceptionalism on screen.
When it comes to the land I love, the movies that move us most happen to be based on the stories of real Americans. They get to the core of what America really means and show why this nation is truly exceptional.
Americas dedication to liberty makes it a nation like no other. Thats why, whether the setting is war, politics, courtrooms, sports, or science, when Hollywood makes movies about exceptional Americans they celebrate the true value and meaning of liberty. And that inspires us.

“Do they still make movies?”
Yes, they do, but nowadays you must refer to them as “films.”
“The Right Stuff should be at the top of that list IMHO.”
You betcha...
Drums Along the Mohawk
Gettysburg
Saw that movie for the first time a few weeks ago and then again last night. That is now one of my favorite movies.
Bah! Humbug! Not a John Wayne movie on the list.
“Yes, they do, but nowadays you must refer to them as films.

Ohhh. you are referring to the “artistic” films of the 60s, or so, Does anyone still make them?
It has been only in the last year that I have had cable
TV. I can not get over the racial diversity in today’s movies.
What no John Wayne movies ???
I would have placed “Best Years of Our Lives” at # 1.
The Right Stuff should be at the top of that list IMHO.<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
YES! Amazing how many people we’ve showed it to who never realized what went on in those years. I’ve always been grateful that JFK took the leadership role in pushing us into space. What a contrast with today’s apologists for America who continue to denigrate our country and push us toward third world status. Quite a contrast.
A truly great flock, that one. And Myrna Loy was soooooo hot.
Inherit The Wind???
Didn’t this movie mock God and push Darwin and the theory of evolution? That’s supposed to make me feel proud to be an American?
I was proud to be an American for a long, long time.No more though.
Absolutely.
Proud to be an American; how about Saving Pvt. Ryan, Patton, the Longest Day, Sgt. York and many more.
