Some great photos.
A lot fewer tattoos, I’d guess.
Summers in the 80s were just pure magic.
You could actually relax and party, because the only thing you really had to worry about were Soviets on the other side of the world, not operating out of the White House.
And the people in their 20s look 20 years older than 20-somethings today.
Reagan was what was great about the 1980s. The music, fashions were not.
music was way better in the 80s than that 70s crap that passed for music.
A dearth of over weight people.
“And the people in their 20s look 20 years older than 20-somethings today.”
Holy Krap...you are right, half of those “20’s” look like they are well into their 40’s.
Cool. That looks like a long time ago. Another world.
I wish I was old enough to remember the 80s.
Oh wait. I do.
I thought they had color film by then?
You are so right. Startlingly so in fact.
Wonder what accounts for that?
The kids also look healthier and happier, beer and "dangerous behaviors" notwithstanding (riding around in the back of a pickup---can't even do that in Montana anymore!).
No electronics. Cops trying to keep the kids reasonable without shooting people or animals. Beer and some booze instead of meth, oxy, bath salts...
Better times in many, many ways.
This slideshow sort of shocked me into realizing that it really WAS a long time ago. Different and better times as well.
Oh ya, disco was awesome! /snark
I remember color film being the norm in the 70s, let alone the 80s. What’s up with all the B&W pics?
I don’t know. I didn’t take them.
You wouldn’t say that if you had listened to Zeppelin, the Stones, Aerosmith and BTO instead of spending so much time with disco.
At first, I thought that it was due to all of the moustaches being worn then.
Then I remembered that the eighties were still a time when moving out of your parents' home was considered a priority once you graduated.
The 80’s was what Don McClean was prophesying about when he said “the day the music died”.
I think it was a matter of these guys living in an time where you were allowed to be more physically active, more physical, and take more risks. It wasn’t considered bad to grow real facial hair, have some muscles, and be a dude.
I think that it was also more attractive to be an adult and get some freedom than it is with 20 year olds today. Many of whom actually buy superhero under wear, spend all day playing video games, argue over comic book characters, and want to look more like an androgynous teenager.
