Steve, you hit exactly what I was thinking. He reminded me of the way Indurain gave his competitors (or the camera) no indication of how he felt, ever. During that last 2k when the road went over 13% and then hit that short section of 20%, I was thinking they must have forgotten to tell Nibali.
Did you notice the body language of his teammates that were shepherding him as they dropped off? They were spent.
