We need to develop a good domestic league. The MLS is getting better. And more of out top-notch talent needs to play in the big-time European leagues. It is a conundrum of sorts because you would prefer our best talent to play at home, but the reality is that the European leagues are better. If you want to become a world-class basketball player, you play in the NBA. The Spurs certainly were the beneficiaries of foreign talent.

It’s a tough call, but we need more US players to play in the top European leagues.

I like the idea of MLS teams essentially becoming farm teams of the big Euro clubs, essentially they would serve as the developmental squads of the clubs.

So say for example half the team would consist of Manchester United developmental players, and the other half, domestic players.

A lot of other European domestic leagues face the same issues, like for example the best Polish players will generally play in the Bundesliga, rather than the domestic Polish league.

Like you say, anything can happen including to Germany, if they meet Algeria, everyone thinks of 1982 when Algeria defeated West Germany only for Austria and West Germany to collude to a draw to deny Algeria advancing. Germany's got too many things like this in its history for all of your ranting about Germany. They haven't won Silverware since 1996.
