Justin Bieber Turns to Faith After Video Scandal, Gets Baptized in New York City: Report

The ‘Baby’ singer is apparently repenting his sins after apologizing for making racist remarks in old videos that leaked online.

He's been insufferable for a while and now Justin Bieber is apparently ready to be settled.

The pop star is turning to faith after the leaked video scandal that made him a mouthpiece for racist remarks. Bieber, 20, was baptized by Hillsong New York City pastor Carl Lentz last week, TMZ reports. He also spent a month beforehand doing "intense Bible study" with the celebrity-friendly pastor.

He was reportedly baptized in a hotel room to “keep the whole thing private,” according to the gossip site. The pop star (right) poses with Hillsong NYC pastor Carl Lentz. The singer reportedly got baptized after the leaked video scandal.

A video of the "Looking for You" singer surfaced online earlier this month showing him using the N-word in a racist joke. Another clip of Bieber with similar racist remarks came days later, forcing him to issue an apology for the "childish and inexcusable" behavior. The video was reportedly filmed when Bieber was 15.

"I'm very sorry," the "All That Matters" singer said in a statement.

"I take all my friendships with people of all cultures very seriously and I apologize for offending or hurting anyone with my childish and inexcusable behavior."

"What he was 5 years ago was a naive child who did not understand the negative power and degradation that comes from playing with racial slurs," Usher said in a statement of support.

"What he is now is a young man faced with an opportunity to become his best self, an example to the millions of kids that follow him to not make the same mistakes."

Bieber showed signs of cleaning up his act on Instagram. Most recently, he posted a photo indicating he's spending time with his family. Before that he posted an excerpt from a faith-based book featuring three Bible verses.

From #3. Looks like Bieber joined a typical liberal feel good church.

“However, Apprising Ministries’ Pastor Ken Silva expressed his views regarding Lentz’s popularity in a new interview.
“This is typical of the cult of celebrity megachurch pastor because to grow their little kingdoms they cannot risk offending anyone,” said Pastor Silva, according to Charisma News. “As Christians we must love precious LGBT souls, for whom Christ died, enough to tell them the truth. Pastor Carl, it is not unloving to tell someone the truth; however, it is actually hateful to withhold it from them.”

Ok, but it looks far too much like he thinks going to a church is like going to the doctor’s office after dropping a brick on his foot.

Agreed. The gospel IS “the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth...”—Romans 1:16

Three years ago, Bieber (and his dad) had "Yeshua" tattooed on him in Hebrew, in Israel.

To all the detractors, here's one of my favorite scriptures, from Philippians 2:12: "work out your own salvation with fear and trembling." Earlier, in the same chapter, Paul writes: " Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves..."

I'd also like to bring up the parable of the workers. And Romans 3:23... "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

I could find more examples. But I'm sad that I have to bother. It's attitudes like those seen here that caused me to stop posting on this forum a couple of years ago. I see that my return will probably be short-lived.

The Biebs, I think, knows he’s headed in the wrong direction and quite probably wants to at least make things better, if not right. My big concern isn’t Bieber’s sincerity but the guidance he gets from Carl Lentz. Based on interviews I’ve seen I’m not sure Mr. Lentz instructs people - from the pulpit - in the things they need to hear from the Bible.
