Remodeling baths on a grand scale -- ripping out tubs and sinks, just Bath Crashers. Last time I was involved in something on this scale, I could go to Home Depot Expo to see baths and kitchens galore. The design experts helped us come up with a plan and assisted us in our choices.
Apparently, they have since closed all of their Expo Centers. We visited a place called Home Decor, I think, and they had a few model bathrooms that gave us some basic ideas. We also visited some model homes in new neighborhhods, and the baths looked great but still fairly generic.
So is there any place in the DFW area that has models baths with varying styles?
Thanks in advance!
There’s a place you can go to watch models bathe. America,
What a country!!!
Check out my friends web site at http://www.cdchomerenovations.com ... he’s done some amazing bath makeovers. He’s based in Allen.
I'm 5'8 and my wife is 5'2 so almost all tubs "fit" ... unless I want to 'lounge', in which case I'd look for longer, wider and maybe armrests.
air bubbles optional.
Consider what a bath is for, how much time you spend in it, doing what .. and the search is easy.
White is a perfect color, especially if you have no light IN the bath area ... white reflects
Most people cover the tub with a cover curtain in front of the shower curtain ... so all anyone sees is a band the length of the tub by 6 or so inches
So ... $1000 for 360 square inches (2.77 p/sq in) or 400 bucks for the same exposure (1.11 per)
THAT'S the way I think and it drive my wife nuts !
And there are plenty of places around DFW for that as well.
Joe’s brother was my contractor and I couldn’t have found a better one.
Get some references from the contractors you are checking out. I went to a few homes and looked at new remodeled baths. Houzz was also helpful.
Don’t let the designer/contractor choose what YOU have to live with. Unless you are planning to sell or move in the near future, get what you want. ENJOY YOUR HOME. Why should you put good money into it for some future non-existant person?
You’re looking for a bath house?
Laz must be out sick this morning!
At my one time at a Home Depo Expo Center I asked them how thick their floor tiles were, as I was worried about floor transitions. They were in a cute, framed, display, and the guy basically told me to get lost - implying that it was an unfair question.
Glad to see them shut down - clowns like that can go back to interior design.
This is kind of nice and a real value!
LOL!
I’m happy to find I’m not the only one.
Recently designed own remodel. Primary goals were
1. Eliminate mold
2. Elimate cleaning
3. Maximize floor space
Based in this I started with fan. The choice was a panasonici fan that was many times stronger than recommended yet quiet and turn on by motion and humidity.
Second choices was to increase insulation on external walls, mold resistant walls and bath wall material that is all one piece from bath to ceiling.
Third choice was wall hung toilet for added floor space, elimination of cleaning under toilet .
Floor and Décor in Arlington. They have some nice model bathrooms that show off their tile selections. We were looking at the glass enclosed showers there.
Try Morrisons in Fort Worth. They have a wide variety of bath and kitchen stuff almost all high end though
Houzz.com click on photos, the bathrooms, or in the search engine type in what you want.
Create a my houzz account then save the ones you like.
I’ve been remodeling almost nothing but kitchens and baths the last ten years and it has been a big help.
Ah, the days of the kerchief.
If you are looking for well designed yet easy to clean and maintain, I’d suggest looking online at some high end hotels. They always have photo’s of the bathrooms. Elegant, yet very low maintenance. It’s a good place to get ideas, if nothing else.
Great suggestion. Just spent a long time checking out the gallery and got some additional ideas. Thanks!
I’m jealous. Maybe next time I visit family in Wisc. I’ll check it out. Sounds like an interesting place, thanks!
Cool, since I’m in McKinney. Wanting to add a skylight to the master bath since there is no natural light, and I know that’s no easy task.
