A 19-month-old toddler was critically injured after a police flash bang was tossed into his bed during a police raid at a Habersham County home on Wednesday.

“It’s my baby. He’s my only baby. He didn’t deserve any of this,” said Alecia Phonesavanh, the mother of the child.

“It landed in his playpen and exploded right in his face,” said Phonesavanh.

The child is now being treated at Grady hospital and has a 50 percent chance of survival.

Suspect wasn’t there, and family probably had nothing to do with drugs. But, go barging in, blazing away.

Well, heck, the baby made a “furtive move”.

More on the story.

Agents were buying meth at the house but kids were kept out of sight.

Baby was visiting. Placed in portable crib which blocked door.

When agents couldn’t open door (no-knock) they tossed in flash grenade.

If you have children, don’t manufacture or deal drugs out of your home. If you’re a cop, know where your device is going and if innocents are likely to be nearby. There are no blameless parties here, except the child.

ridiculous... they did not do their job... they were indiscriminate in their gross actions... since the Geneva Conventions and Protocol I, (1949 and 1977) we go out of our way to avoid civilian casualties during war... our police force should do the same... they did not need to go the extreme they did... what if this happened at the wrong address--which is not uncommon?

if this happened to me, if they came to my house because of mistaken address, i take no comfort in being able to say i am blameless in this situation... i don't want to be in a situation where blame needs to be deciphered... i want to avoid this in the first place... and that starts with our police force...

The so called “war on drugs” has done more to erode liberties than any thing else in this country.

Drugs...bad. Dealers...bad-r-r

Wanna stop all this nonsense...PROTECT OUR BORDERS!

Cops all dressed up in their ninja outfits with fully auto weapons and grenades is way over the top.

Shut down the damn border...go into Messy-co with American military and occupy the land two miles into that cesspool of a country along the border. Shut it down. Stop illegal human and drug smuggling.

Stop kick’en doors down in America, stop shooting pets, stop getting the wrong addresses, stop cap’en folks for a few $5 dollar rocks of crack cocaine. Damn

I’m getting so sick and tired of the police war against civilians. On the other hand, I do understand their paranoia about dealing with actual criminals. But more training needs to be developed and promulgated, assuming they are not actually under orders to subdue the citizenry with random acts of violence on any pretext whatsoever.

According to the Sheriff, the crib was pushed up against the front door where the drug deal had occurred earlier. That’s the door where they made the entry.

Why would they push the crib up against the front door where a drug deal had occurred earlier?

According to the mother:
He’s in the burn unit. We got to see him and his whole face is ripped open.
There are pictures on the Internet. He has burns around his mouth and nose. His whole face isn't ripped open. Hopefully, she's lying about his survival chances, too, and he'll recover.

Do you have any evidence that the sheriff is lying? I’d like the facts. How about you?

"Do you have any evidence that the sheriff is lying?"

Do you have any evidence he is telling the truth...

Let us look at the facts.

No Knock Warrant for someone they already had in a recorded drug sale (Why didn't they arrest him then?)

Perp the warrant was issued for wasn't in the building. (So basically they showed up threw a bomb in the door and had no evidence whatsoever the guy was actually in there.)

The Baby wasn't the perp's kid but the child of people "visiting"...

So basically the Cowboy Commandos got Ramboed up and got to blow some shit up (A baby) without having a clue that their intended target was in the building. Everyone involved should be charged with aggravated assault and if the poor child dies then aggravated murder with special circumstances then this Rambo crap would stop when a few of them ended up getting a needle stuck in there arm and then a nice long dirt nap!

Yeah I ain't believing anything the sheriff has got to say at this point because he is clearly incompetent and the facts say so...

I don't know why they did that, but I have done the exact same thing many years ago when my children were babies.

If you are visiting friends or family, space may be limited, especially if the house is small. You set the playpen up right before bed wherever there is space. Since no one is coming or going until morning, the entry space is convenient.

This family was visiting. they had four children with them. Space may very well have been at a premium.

No, I don't. That's why I put "according to the sheriff" in my post.

I think you need to do more research.

Police didn’t know children were in the home. Does that mean had the bomb exploded in the face of an adult, perhaps innocent, it would have been OK?
