Hmm. So AT&T are moving to exchanges in California. On the web there is a memo dated May 20 from a Marty Webb saying thhis decision wasn’t related to obamacare but had been in works before. Ha ha. But that is what it says
Also — you mentioned Medicare. I thought once you went on Medicare (age 65) then a company like AT&T no longer was involved with a retiree’s health care. So this change should impact retirees in that area until they reach 65 and go on Medicare. If I am wrong I welcome the education.
Bookmarked for later. I don’t think there have been meetings yet but I have my 2 hour phone call set for early July. Freepmail me if you find out anything pertinent and I’ll do the same for you. Thanks.
I assume you’re talking about choosing a Medicare supplement plan?
GM did the same thing a few years ago. The “advisory” outfit was a total waste of my time. Do your own research choose wisely.
You are correct about Medicare being the primary health care provider after 65, however the secondary insurance provider (United Healthcare right now) provides dental and prescriptions, after meeting the deductible. I can’t wait to see what’s coming in 2015. I’m sure the cost is not going down.
After 65 and medicare eligible ATT became the supplemental for medicare with a monthly premium.
That was the deal when we all retired and has been for decades.
This became a supposedly Cadillac plan and ATT would now have to pay an excise tax I believe its called on these benis so they said “so long”.
Correct Medicare supplement.
Who was the advisory outfit.I think there are 2 major players
Extend Health
It was basically a bunch of fresh college grads reading off a script.
Your results may vary.
The good news is you can switch every year if you’re not happy with what you have.
I am an ATT retiree. Havent seen anything. Thought we got package in october
Were you craft or management?
I know when O-care was first being pushed CWA, (aka Cheapest Workers Around, or Can’t Win Anything) was singing the praises of Obama care and the workers getting kicked to the exchange.
They tried selling it to us talking about all the billions the company would save and how much our wages, (and their dues) were going to go up...
