Hero Cat -- Attack Dog Euthanized [Don't blame me, I didn't write the headline.]

Every dog has it's day ... and in the case of the Lab/Chow mix that viciously attacked a little boy only to be scared off by hero cat -- his last day was Saturday.

Sources at the Bakersfield animal shelter tell TMZ ... Scrappy was euthanized at the end of a 10-day hold following the attack. We're told the dog was aggressive during his stay at the shelter, even trying to bite a couple of employees.

Scrappy was so ornery ... we're told he would try to attack staff even when they tried to give him food and water.

Interesting that you mentioned she wouldn’t take food from you for a while. My best childhood friend always had German shepherds, her parents were from Germany and were very strict people. Their first dog was a guard dog and she told me he had been trained not to accept food, ANY food, from strangers, so that potential burglars wouldn’t be able to poison him by tossing a poisoned steak over the fence or whatever. Obviously your poor doggie underwent some harsh “training” for this purpose; bad guy might have been a drug dealer looking for a guard for his wares, who knows.

True enough, with all you say. THANKS.

Her name was "Lucy" and she spent the rest of her life with my husband--the BEST life a doggie could have.

” I am more cautious around Chows than Pit Bulls. In my personal experience, there are far more of them highly aggressive than any other breed.”

I worked a home service job going into people’s backyards for 20 years. In all that time the only two aggressive dogs I was unable to bluff my way thorough were both chows.
