I live in Everett WA. It’s near Seattle.
I have 2 plots in a community garden. It’s not doing well, except for flowers and berries, and things previous tenants got established, which is flowers, herbs and berries.
These west coast planting schedules are not working for me. Last year I used Montana planting schedules and at least had lettuce. This year I don’t even have lettuce. I harvested 3 radishes yesterday. The rest all had something wrong with them. I haven’t tasted them yet. I might get a few beets, but the Swiss chard, carrots and parsnips have done nothing.
Yesterday I put out a pepper that I started indoors. I have 3 more. Peppers did not survive last year. All month Ive been putting out tomatoes started inside in March. So far they’re doing OK. Last year they started out good, then something happened and they got brown spots and basically rotted before ripening. I did salvage some, but not near what it first looked like I would have.
Last year Italian parsley was the only herb I succeeded in growing from seeds. Unfortunately another tenant ripped it out. I planted it again this year but it hasn’t done anything. There is plenty of the other kind.
In the fall another tenant gave me some strawberry plants she didnt want. They were growing like weeds I guess. Most of those have survived and have berries on them. I’ve grown strawberries a lot in the past. The raspberries are on schedule. The previous tenant got those established, of course. I knew I couldn’t and that’s why I wanted that plot.
It will really be an embarrassment if I can’t even grow zucchini. I don’t know what they’re supposed to look like when they first come up because there’s no picture on the envelope. I’ve never grown it before, just used excess that other people wanted to get rid of.
Somebody gave me onion sets too. I didnt really want them although I do like onions. So far most if them aren’t getting bigger but aren’t dying either.

What kind of temps are you experiencing in Everett? It might be too cold still. I live in Massachusetts, and we had a low Wednesday night of 38 degrees.
