Led Zeppelin are being accused plagiarising the introduction of their iconic 1971 anthem, Stairway To Heaven, in a new lawsuit brought by the estate of Spirit guitarist Randy California and members of the band.
Business Week reports the estate and groups members believe the acoustic introduction to Stairway was lifted from their 1968 instrumental, Taurus.

That would be as bad for the show as The Fugitive actually catching the one armed man!

There's a lady who's sure all that glitters is gold
And she's suing a stairway to heaven.
When she gets there she knows, if the courts are all closed
With a word she can get what she came for.
Ooh, ooh, and she's suing a stairway to heaven.

My guess is it has something to do with Ed Cassidy passing away about a year and a half ago. He was Randy California’s stepfather, and Spirit’s drummer. (He was in his mid forties when they were popular.) Randy California died in 1997.

I just finished a ‘Lost’ bingeathon. After six seasons I think everyone finally agreed, “OK, no more angst over this island. We’re all dead and in Purgatory. Let’s wrap things up.”
Neat video, thanks. How did GI end? We’re they rescued?

Clearly it was Bill Gates who took it. He had the artist play one of the notes on A rather than C.

It's Stairway To Heaven
You know it's playing somewhere in the world right now.
That's a lot of royalties.

I think some of you that don't hear it aren't listening long enough into the song. I had my daughter listen once (6th grade, not very musically astute) and she even said “isn't that from that Stairway to Heaven” song?”

I’m not really a fan, but weren’t all songs by this band more or less copied from other sources?

Creepy link!! And one if the responses says the statute of limitations is 3 years.
Interesting that this thread is already pushing 60 comments.

No. The show was cancelled suddenly after the third season, so they were never able to end it gracefully. There was a movie called Rescued from Gilligan's Island with everyone except Tina Louise. They got off the island and then on the one-year anniversary they took a cruise to celebrate, and well, you can guess what happened. This is from Wikipedia.

As far as I'm concerned,
Stairway to Heaven is a Neil Sedaka song from the spring of 1960. I'm not familiar with this other version.

Could say the same about "In a Gadda Da Vida"
