Longtime Congressman John Conyers of Michigan doesn't have enough signatures to appear on the Aug. 5 primary ballot, an elections official announced Tuesday. And how is this a problem with getting ballots printed? These are Democrats, people!

Let me speak for the election officers who now have to deal with thousands of write ins because the congressman cannot get his act together. Nobody thinks of the poor schlubs who are left copying by hand a few thousand variants of the write ins. What would be a normal close out of 30 minutes becomes hours, and that after a 13 hour day dealing with the entitled public.

I heard an interesting comment about this on the local radio station WJR. The host asked a local pol if Conyers could pull off the same feat as Duggan, the mayor, and win with a write in campaign. The pol answered: “Duggan had two things going for him. He had strong financial backing, and he was in his right mind. Conyers has neither of those advantages!”

The ACLU has filed suit to change state law. WTF? Why is the ACLU involved? Ah. Stupid question. Never mind.

I don’t usually pay much attention to my local news broadcasts, but I did happen to catch a bit of coverage of this issue. Evidently, MI requires that folks that are collecting petition signatures for potential candidates, the sig collectors must also be legally registered voters.
It appears that at least 2 of his signature collectors were not registered voters, in fact one of them also had a warrant out for his arrest! The number of signatures collected illegally was 640 signatures. All that was required was 1,000 signatures.
In other words, 64% of the signatures collected were collected in a criminal manner and many of those were collected by an actual criminal that is on the run!
Ho hum, Democrat party operations as normal....

If I recall correctly, Thaddeus McCotter had this same problem and lost his seat over it.
