My 83 year old grandfather drives a Toyota Corolla. Never understood why he went foreign after supporting American autos for over 60 years.

I'm over sixty and can't imagine owning a caddilac, Buick, etc. I commute these last couple of years in this (and I'm too old for mid-life crisis):

I drift every day on my way to work.

The Corolla has the honor of being the best selling car, ever. Over 41 million sold. The Corolla is very durable, cheap to fix and last forever. There is a 1991 on my driveway with 270 k on it. The 87 FX-16 Corolla I bought new is still going on my stepson’s driveway.

My parents would never own a Japanese or German car. When we bought a honda accord took two years before mom would ride in it

Dad never did. He was in wwII

Our oldsters were always loyal Oldsmobile.
One fellow had a record starting in 1941.
Every 2 yrs . We figure about 35 of them.
We bought Olds for years. I think they made a
Mistake dumping Olds. Lots of Americans jumped to Toyota and Honda.

A neighbor of mine used to swear by GM for decades. Now he swears at them. His last two GM trucks were the worst vehicles he ever owned. Now he’s all Honda and Toyota only.

Probably because they are relatively cheap, reliable, easy to repair, and they last a LONG time...

"Never understood why he went foreign after supporting American autos for over 60 years."

Probably because he is not stupid and understands far too many American made cars suck now which is a crying shame...
