Austrian drag queen Conchita Wurst, popularly known as the bearded lady, won the Eurovision Song Contest on Saturday with the James Bond-theme-like ballad Rise Like a Phoenix, before a global TV audience of about 180 million people in 45 countries.

Europe is so much more sophisticated than the US.... yeah, right!
It might make a decent Bond villian as long s it doesn’t sing, it doesn’t sleep with Bond and it gets graphically blown to bits.
(He/it also had to sport a beard to out-freak a previous transvestite winner.)
So that’s what Gloin’s wife looked like!
According to Tolkein, she was a renowned beauty.
Did the euro thing get chosen in the NFL draft yesterday?????
We need eye bleach now. That blonde on the rooftop would be nice.
LOL!
(Too skinny, though. That thing could never swing a sledgehammer.)
That wasn’t the one I was looking for but YIKES! It’ll work.
Thanks, I forgot about the freakish decline of Europe from its center for a while. But I’ll never understand how she was able to pay attention to the beams under her, or just about anything else, with those to always look at.
All I know is that 30 YEARS ago, Israel was asked NOT to submit an entry to the Eurovision Song Festival, because they always won, with songs like “Hallelujah, La Olam) (Praise G-d in Everything). After winning three years in a row, they were told to “give someone else a chance”.
At least that was the story the Israelis told me back in 1984.
The Freak won to give Putin a big FU...That was the only reason.
Here you go.

To date there have been three Israeli victories in the contest. Izhar Cohen and Alphabeta won in Paris in 1978 with the uptempo A-Ba-Ni-Bi.
On home ground in Jerusalem the following year, Israel won again, this time with the anthemic Hallelujah performed by Gali Atari & Milk and Honey. For reasons that still escaped me, Israel did not defend the title in 1980.
The third victory came almost 20 years later in Birmingham, UK in 1998. Singer Dana International took top honors with the song Diva, setting off widespread celebrations in Israel.
40 years ago, an unknown band from Sweden won, they’re name....ABBA.
Ah..thanks for the correction and the update. I was just speaking from a memory...it’s been 30 years! :-)
In any case...the current ‘winner’ shows how far the contest has descended.
