I’m only aware of this because I’ve lived in Hawaii, but 2 decades ago the age of legal consent in Hawaii was 14. It is ironic that this civil suit is taking place in a state so liberal with its sex laws.
Now the age of consent in Hawaii is 16, but there is a close in age exception which allows 14 and 15 yr-olds to consent to sex with those less than 5 years older.
