Dont think this is a burial of Game of Thrones; it really is one of the best shows on TV right now. But the best and frustrating arent mutually exclusive, and theres a lot Game of Thrones does that it could stand to stop doing. Like, for example

So many good shows on basic cable. Justified, Vikings, The Americans, The Following, Breaking Bad, Hell On Wheels, and now Fargo( I hope so).
I refuse to pay extra for liberal channels so that my money can be used to propagandize leftist issues. I may pay for an individual series after the series is done but it would have to be real special series for that.
That was my guess. I don’t really know who the killer was. I haven’t gotten that far in the books. My guess was based solely on what I saw last Sunday night. Margery set the cup right in front of her. And in the preview for next week, she spoke of the death as fortunate. I would never spoil it for anyone else if I knew for sure.
Hehe then you and I guessed the same and I would say it is a good deduction:)
Agreed.
I agree wholeheartedly.
What’s frustrating is all of the disgusting and unnecessary gay porn they infect the storyline with. They can’t seem to help infecting the screenplay with their filth.
Exactly it. I had to write down the character name and the start page of the chapter on a 9x11 for the entire book.
Then, I could read a charcter or group of characters that were related. The 9x11 was also good for making notes for later look-up.
I was able to gain a sense of progress.
Also, a useful resource was the website A Wiki of Ice and Fire (AWOIAF). Well-organized information, and a great supplemental.
It's a genetics thing.
As soon as I read “it won’t stop killing the most interesting characters” i stopped as that’s just straight out of the books. I’m assuming he hasn’t read them.
Agree. Really great books and damn near impossible to turn into a series. I think it’s really well done (gratuitous and superfluous sex scenes aside).
Based on your description I’m fairly certain you have never read them.
I gave up, even though the story was interesting, I loved the opening animated sequence
Trying to blame genes in order to avoid personal responsibility? That doesn't fly around here, buddy.
I read one book, his first. It could be decent formula fiction—but it is forgettable. Absurd to compare it to literature.
When the nudity begins just close your eyes and think of her.
Respectfully disagree. Martin's "reality" is what we would be like if there were no Sovereign God running the show. God calls real people to be better than that. I think Martin has done a good job depicting a Godless world - but that's not realism (except in leftist fantasies).
Martins take on reality, in terms of human behavior anyway, is what really did happen during comparable periods of history. People only sometimes behave as we would like them to, and powerful people less than most.
And this is normal in literature, the greats not excepted.
If you make such an objection to Martin, you must be similarly appalled at Shakespeare. Titus Andronicus (ok, lets handicap by page count) has Martin beat by a mile. Throw in the rest of Shakespeare’s stuff to pad out the pages and the sheer volume of violence, immorality and villainy trumps Martin handily.
How is Tyrion Lannister personally responsible for his genetic makeup? Do you suppose he chose to be a dwarf?
Or...
My guess--and I have not read the books--is the former queen-to-be. She picked it up after it fell.
Maybe. I watched that scene again very closely and I think it was probably there to throw us off because it didn’t look like she had the cup in her posession long enough to slip it in with all eyes on her, the cup was empty at the time so nothing to conceal it in, and how would Sansa have known the incident would even happen? It seems the poisoning would most likely be pre-planned.
