WESTERN CONFERENCE - ROUND 1 MATCH-UPS
COLORADO AVALANCHE (1) vs MINNESOTA WILD (4)
ST. LOUIS BLUES (2) vs CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS (3)
ANAHEIM DUCKS (1) vs DALLAS STARS (4)
SAN JOSE SHARKS (2) vs LOS ANGELES KINGS (3)
The “Spirit of St. Louis” had to come down to earth eventually ....
Yup. And it didn’t matter if the pilot was Lindbergh or Lundqvist.
Nice catch there ;)
What a pathetic bunch of losers.
The Rangers' Benoit Pouliot tips a point shot at the end of a PP past Kings G Quick to open the scoring in Game 4 in New York,
while Jeff Carter just fails to tap in the puck sitting on the goal line later in the 1st Period, keeping NY ahead 1-0 at the Intermission.
Maybe the Rangers live another day... but it feels like excessive measures keeping them on life support.
Quick >>> Lundquist
Shortly after Marty St. Louis put the Rangers up by 2 early in the second Period, Dustin Brown of the Kings scores on a breakaway
past New York's G Lundqvist to narrow the margin to 2-1 for the home Blueshirts over L.A. at the 2nd Intermission.
Yep, it seems like it’s taking everything the Rangers have to keep LA at bay ... unfortunately, I’ll either have to watch the Cup celebration on replay tomorrow or await Game Five on Friday should the Rangers prevail.
Tune in Friday - Rangers win!
(let me know if you want on or off the ping list)

Justin Williams of the Kings slides the puck through a maze of players in front of & under Rangers G Lundqvist to tally the opening goal
for Los Angeles, which holds up through the first Intermission as they lead New York 1-0 in elimination Game 5 at the Staples Center.
Chris Kreider on the PP then F Boyle scores shorthanded late in Period 2 as the Rangers shock the LA crowd to lead 2-1 at the break.
Overtime! again
Marian Gaborik scores a Kings PP goal between the legs of Henrik Lundqvist in the 3rd Period to tie the Rangers at 2 going into OT in Game 5.
Local Pittsburgh media is reporting that legendary Steelers coach Chuck Noll has died.
Thanks Doc for the obligatory Pirates reference. It’s not hockey season without those.
I’ve never been for the Kings, they just looked better in the West but that with the Blackhawks was even. Really like to see the Rangers get something.
In 2006, I’m almost positive the Stanley Cup final game 7 between the Carolina Hurricanes and Calgary Flames was on the Wednesday before the World Cup began. Here, the World Cup has already started and this is game 5.
Blast it, Kings win the SC.
Williams with the Conn Smyth.
Thank you for hosting this annual event. Wonderful job this season!
