Jim Rutherford is the new GM of the Pens. His last job was failing at Carolina. Strange hire.
Not much since 2006, but he was the GM when the ‘Canes won the Cup.
I’m trying to learn more about him. Some people say he built Carolina’s Stanley Cup team by selling off and trading young players and prospects. Others say he was forced to do that. I was impressed by his press conference. I hope there’s a lot more to him than good words.
I liked what Rutherford said at his press conference.

It sounds like he’s there to train one of the underlings - Guerin, Botterill and Fitzgerald - to take over as GM in a couple of years.

LA down 2-0 at the end of 1? No problem.
One of the many stellar saves by Rangers G Henrik Lundquist in the 1st period of Game 2
as New York gets the first two goals and leads the Kings 2-0 at the First Intermission in Los Angeles.
Doesn't seem to be a problem.
The Kings Jarret Stoll slides a seeing-eye shot past a helpless Henrik Lundquist early in Period 2 to narrow the Rangers' lead to 2-1,
but after trading goals, NY's Derick Brassard scores 11 seconds after the last L.A. tally to give the visitors the lead 4-2 at Intermission.
Deja Vu, going to OT at 4-4, again.
Now it’s a problem - OT.
No team has ever come back from 2-goal deficits in the playoffs three times in a row.
Gotta hit the sack, unfortunately ... it’s a real tossup, either deserve the ‘W’.
Well, we may see a new record tonight then. It’s just a brand new sudden death game. Those speedy little guys in the white sweaters may be getting tired, sore and disappointed.
The conventional wisdom here in 2014 is that the Rangers might win a tight series in seven games. I think it's the other way around. The Kings are so big and relentless that they wear opponents down in a long series, so I said coming into this series that the Rangers chances of winning the Stanley Cup decline with every game that's played unless they go into Game 3 up 2-0 (ain't going to happen) or Game 5 up 3-1 (very unlikely).
I picked them to win the Cup right after they came back from 3-0 down to the Sharks.
I figured any of the top three teams in the West -- Chicago, Los Angeles or Anaheim -- would have beaten any team that came out of the East. That's basically what happened in each of the last two years.
That Darryl Sutter sure knows how to coach a hockey team, and with that kind of depth up front it's simply impossible to match up against their forwards.
Double OT !
Both teams have had great chances to end it but goaltending at both ends has been awesome !
Kings Win!
What a game. That’s an unbelievable team ... and you can never predict who will score a game-winning goal for them because they get goals from up and down their lineup.
