My preferred quote along those lines is “I wish I didn’t now what I didn’t know then.”
I wish I didn’t know now what I didn’t know then.
I don’t have the same set of skills that I had when I was younger, but I am comfortable with different skills that developed since then, that the 24-year old version of me could not have even imagined.
I find this analogous to the skillset of a baseball pitcher - with the exception of Nolan Ryan, you lose the flame-thowing capabilities of youth, starting in your late 20’s (or earlier). If you want to stay in the game, you have to develop other skills like situational awareness and knowing your opponents and their weaknesses.
