“Does this mean what I think it do?”
“It do.”

Thanks for posting this. A great film further enhanced by Dimitri Tiomkin's unforgettable music score. Everyone knows "The Green Leaves of Summer" and I'm glad the video clip included at least a snippet of
Tennessee Babe.

Sam Houston chose his moment.
We are approaching San Jacinto Day (April 21st).
Yes, Remember the Alamo, but more important, Remember San Jacinto. 18 minutes that made a Great Nation.

“The Alamo” in 8.5 minutes?
“Gee, Dad, how did they get all those Mexicans to run so fast?”

Funny... when I was a kid, that "Not thinkin', just rememberin'..." line didn't carry much weight.
Now, it makes me as tight in the throat as that "Republic" quote.
Great film, historical warts be damned. It's a shame that it's original cut has been lost. There are websites that discuss restoration efforts on another longer cut, a full copy of which was found in a Canadian theater.

I visited Brackettsville often to see the set of the Alamo, Two for Texas, and Bandolero. I even got to be on the set while they filmed Bandolero as a guest of Andrew Prine and Don “Red” Barry. I can't watch John Wayne's movie without pride and sadness. I no longer live in Texas but my heart is there.
