Wow watching the replay Junior really plowed up the grass. Shows you how much aero downforce these cars have and/or how soft the dirt was from the rains.

No problems with flag size.

I’m responsible for Jr wrecking. Ran him for the 1st time this year but in my defense Tubebender told me to do it.

Earnhardt Jr. comments on his lap 12 wreck at Texas:

On lap 12 of the Duck Commander 400 Sprint Cup Series race at Texas Motor Speedway, #88-Earnhardt Jr. went low on the front stretch, getting into the grass, which was wet. The left front of the car buckled and the left front tire blew sending the #88 up the track and into the outside wall hard. The car caught fire but Earnhardt Jr. got out and was fine. The car was not and retired from the race. Earnhardt Jr. comments via a Team Chevy transcript:

Q) ON WHAT HAPPENED:

Earnhardt Jr. “Just didn’t see the grass. Didn’t know the grass was down there. With the way the A-post is on these cars you can’t really see that good to that angle. I just didn’t have a good visual of where the apron and the grass was and got down in there pretty good. You can’t run through there they way they have these cars on the ground like that. Just a mistake on my part. I just didn’t know I was that close to the grass, and made a mistake.”

Q) WHAT HAPPENED?

Earnhardt Jr. “I drove the car down there. I didn’t know we were that close the grass and was following the #43 (Aric Almirola). I thought I was taking a decent line through the dogleg. We were going low around the No. 42 (Kyle Larson) so I was lower than normal and just misjudged it. It tears the car up pretty good when you run through the grass.”

Q) SOME DRIVERS WERE COMPLAINING OF A WET TRACK AT THE OUTSET. WAS THAT A FACTOR?

Earnhardt Jr. “It was no factor. I just made a mistake.”(Team Chevy)(4-7-2014)

UPDATE:

Formula One commercial chief Bernie Ecclestone says a U.S. backed team headed by Gene Haas is among two new teams the sport is likely to admit next season. Speaking on Sunday ahead of the Bahrain Grand Prix, Ecclestone said he had held discussions with the sport’s governing body, the FIA, and there was agreement about expanding the grid next season. “They will be accepted, and we’ve also accepted another team as well, although whether they’ll make it or not is another story,” Ecclestone said when asked about a possible Haas entry. I’ve spoken to (FIA President) Jean Todt and we agreed yesterday.” The initial deadline for a decision on new 2015 entries expired at the end of February, but an agreement between Ecclestone and the FIA would likely be able to override that deadline.(ESPN/AP)(4-6-2014)

Hi all, mabarker1 is looking for some feedback on flag sizes, see post 476.

Lets have a "majority" decision by the next race.

Thanks all!

I tried to get the Shell Saver card, but my “mailing” address is a PO Box (USPS doesn’t deliver mail to “my side of town”), and Shell’s customer support couldn’t figure out how to deal with this.

Oh well.

My senility comes and goes. I stayed long enough this time to remember my password and before I forget to tell you I peed on your truck tires.

It’s going to be one of those years when 3 outa my 4 drivers do reasonably well and the 4th finishes 42nd or 43rd.

Hit 77.4 degrees today at the house. One more day of warm temps then it’ll probably snow again.

Leave it as presented. It is stupid to think it is a reload hit or server conundrum.

The Flags are great and on time. That’s my vote.

RichmondRocker class of 2004.

In my view Haas is slightly crazy to be trying this. I don’t see how it can be anything more than a financial sinkhole.

Gene Haas must be floating in money. Didn’t he just give Tony S. have of his company back when?

I’ll answer my own question.

Gene Francis Haas is founder, president, and sole stockholder of Haas Automation, one of the world’s leading CNC machine tool manufacturers. He also founded a NASCAR team, Haas CNC Racing now known as Stewart Haas Racing.
