Three men in Ypsilanti Township Monday assaulted a woman who was able to marry her partner during the brief repeal of Michigans gay marriage ban.
Washtenaw County Sheriffs Office deputies reported the 28-year-old woman got off the bus about 6 p.m. Monday in the area of the 3000 block of Roundtree Boulevard in Ypsilanti Township.
The woman told investigators she got off the bus in the area and was walking home through an apartment parking lot. Three men approached her, with one of them using a homophobic slur, calling her a derogatory name for a woman and asking her if she had recently been on the news.
A man then punched her in the face, knocking her to the ground and causing her to lose consciousness. When she woke up, one of the men was kicking her in the torso.
The men then fled from the area on foot. One of the men is described as white, 5-feet-10 inches to 5-feet-11 inches tall, heavy set and with a low or husky voice. The other two men could not be identified.
Investigators said the woman has recently been in the news because she was able to marry her partner in Washtenaw County. A federal court decision struck down Michigans ban on gay marriage in late March, with couples able to get married for one day.
Anyone with information on this incident is encouraged to call the Washtenaw County Sheriffs Office anonymous tip line at 734-973-7711 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK UP (773-2587).
“One of the men was described as white....” When was the last time a crime of any kind was reported that included “One of the men was described as BLACK”?
I have my doubts that this happened. If it did, that’s some redneck pr**ks in Michigan.
“Because its a HOAX, like every other damn one of these stories.”
Repeated only because I’m late to the party.

*******************************************************************
My HOAXmeter is registering at its max reading. These HOAXes ALL involve perps who are white males being either racist or homophobic.
The poor young lady so wants to be victimized and in the papers as a victim. The fact is...NOBODY cares about her or her “spouse” or their wretched lives.
So you approach something you 'fear'?
I can see this being BS, but again. It IS Ypsi. I can easily see some union steward goons doing this like they did to Clint Tarver. I was the AFP tent that day, and while I didn't hear it directly, I did see the goons in action destroy the tent.
Let’s make a pool on how many days it will be before this is declared a hoax. I’ll start, claiming 10 days. 11 April.
There have been too many hoaxes perpetrated by the homos lately.
“Video or it didn’t happen, lady.”
The water tower in Ypsi looks like a giant pr**k. LOL.
I will lay money this is another gay victim story and I will bet the “attackers” knew the “victim” amd this was all staged foe sympathy. Look for the victim Paypal donation page to show up shortly.
Another hoax?
Given the known track record of people claiming 'homophobic' attacks in recent years, color me skeptical.
And no, she wasn't 'married'.
Actually we don’t even know if she really was attacked because there are no other witnesses. Hell she probably beat herself up then called the police.
A hoax with a ready and willing media to report it, if not instigate it.
Maybe men all look alike to her.
The only way I would believe this is if it had happened in Dearborn.
Well, it is April Fool’s day.
I will question this: where are the photos of injury or medical verification?
If this happened, it is another egregious wanton act of violence.
Coincidence?
False Police Report ...
That’s not fair.
I mean, all white guys look alike, don’t they?
No doubt he/ she/ it did it to himself/ herself/ itself.
