You should never trust the cops, they’re not on your side. Their job is throwing people in jail, and you’re people. Like most cities in America the “grievance procedure” results in an internal investigation where they decide the cops did no wrong. There’s always the problem of who watches the watchmen. I do what I can. When good candidates come up that talk about reigning in our faulty police system I give them money and I vote for them... and then they lose. I myself manage to rarely have direct contact with the cops, when I do and it’s bad I fill out the forms for complain, and nothing comes of it. Luckily the police are sewing the seeds to their own destruction, years ago we voted down a tax hike for them and since then we’ve been “punished” with a dramatic reduction of police “services”. The upshot of this has been teaching the people of Tucson how little we really need them, so we’re using them less, reducing their services further. A situation like Saturday (which they are “investigating”) will further reduce our reliance on them since many have now seen them make a problem just to justify their presence live and in person.
--You are from Tucson? Wonderful place but I was there decades ago. I'm sure it's unrecognizable now. I used to go to the Canyon Ranch spa. I was there in time for spring training once. I saw some of the games too. I still know the wife of a step-cousin who lives there.
My mother and sister were born in Phoenix. We used to visit my grandparents in Phoenix...in June. Whew, it was hot! Everyone is gone now and I lost touch with the wife of my step-cousin.

I suppose the drugs coming in from Mexico drive much of the problem. I know the cops in Mexico were crooked but their were paid almost nothing and got their money from bribes--"mordidas" or "bites."
Maybe the Tucson cops are on the drug-take too. I wouldn't be surprised. They may also be threatened if they don't take the bribe. Who knows. The USA is the main market for the drugs so I doubt that the trade will stop or even diminish.

I didn’t give you static for the caps. Though it is nice you’ve transitioned to a less shouty form of emphasis.
You didn't? Then, I apologize for wrongly accusing you. Someone did but now I don't care!

The big change in TPD happened when they switched to black uniforms. Their attitude towards us dramatically and for the worse. Proving again that clothes make the man.
