I think I’ve cried at every Lenten service this year, because I know Jesus’ suffering was so much worse than anything I’ve suffered because of betrayal, denial, mocking, etc. The world was not worthy of Him being here, and their mocking of Him - MY mocking of Him through my sin - shows that really clearly, and yet there He was, willingly suffering in order to save the fallen, broken, hideous people like myself that He still loves.

He is everything I long for. The brightness unhidden by all the darkness around. He will never fail me.

Thanks for sharing that. It's helpful for me, someone was not exposed to much religious education and training in my youth, who racked up quite a score against Him and who's not used to experiencing first hand the emotional reactions you describe, like when I read about The Crucifixion.
