A little old an maybe a repost but I didn't see it in search...

The article goes on to give a VERY plausible step-by-step series of actions that could take place.

We need only look a few months back on how the animals (word chosen for the behavior exhibited) handled finding out EBT limits were not being enforced -- and then later when they were put back.

“Some of those trapped in their cars will try to drive out of the area, inevitably knocking down MUY pedestrians and being trapped by even more outraged MUYs. The commuters will be dragged out of their cars and kicked or beaten to death. Other suburban commuters will try to shoot their way out of the lines of stopped cars, and they will meet the same grim fate once they run out of bullets and room to escape.”

This is assuming that armed commuters will be too unorganized to travel together in groups while the MUY’s are organizing in groups. A week of this, and I envision some very well organized and armed anti Flash-Mob groups coming together.

BTW, Matt I’m about 2/3 of the way through “Domestic Enemies: The Reconquista”. Driving me crazy how prescient it seems to be.

That’s just it. The “music” will never stop, because the government will just keep printing money so that those EBT payments always arrive on time. Of course there is the tiny issue of inflation.... But the government will just blame the fact that a loaf of bread now costs $50 on “those greedy corporations” and “rich Republicans”, the “usual suspects” will believe every word...

Not that old, still good and still scary.

Uh, Matt? I reread it and still didn't come to the part where unicorns come flying in to save the situation with magic peace dust. Probably you just left that part out, right?

I have ALWAYS been of the opinion that the "when the government checks won't cash" scenario is the most likely SHTF to prepare for.

Inevitable.

And, the numbers will be enormous. 50+million Zombies looking to take what you have.

Luckily, for the most part, they will be lightly armed and short on Ammo. But make sure you have sandbags AND Fire Extinguishers.

The best defense is to build a wall of bodies at least 100yds from your domicile.

In your synopsis you forgot an economic implosion, a near mathematical certainty given a major event such as the fall of the Petro-Dollar or event a major stock collapse. The so-called zombie apocalypse the progressives Beta-tested during the Gubmint shutdown.

I figure this is the reason the Wal-mart just let people put as much as they wanted on their cards when they had that blip a few months ago. If it crashes, the first thing that will happen is that the EBT card holders will get a LOT of free stuff.

That was a thrilling read. Thank-you for posting it. I only wish we had such well-trained former soldiers in my neighborhood. I would volunteer to watch their pets when they were out of town to forge a stronger relationship with them, so if this time comes, I could ask them for the favor of forming the pre-emergent riot breakers squad.

***New Yorkers can imagine the 1977 blackout looting****

And yet, 12 years before this there was another blackout of NY. There was no looting or increase in crime.

So what happened in those 12 years?

I moved to central KY in 2011 because, in no small part, I think we are ever closer to SHTF, but this article is over the top. As just one example, I use the author’s comparison of Reginald Denny to the situation in this future event. Denny’s fault was the same as the US Gov’s fault in 9/11: He didn’t know what the stakes were. If the scenario in this story happens, by the time people are commuting to “what few jobs are left”, the world is already no longer the world we live in. And the poor are now weak with hunger, getting weaker by the day. And the average person is armed.

To put it bluntly, the gridlock the author describes will be full of those more akin to the Korean Shop owners than Reginald Denny.

Where do you buy those tee shirts that say:

The hard part about the coming zombie apocalypse is pretending I'm not excited!

Or words to that effect.

Good read. Thanks for posting.

Personally I think the scenario described is overly optimistic. That level of chaos would lead to loss of electricity, which would lead to loss of water, sewer, and everything else.

In particular, everyone who did not have access to water would panic within days. This would result in quickly spreading chaos. The death rate would be very high, with no chance of quickly restoring order.

Hunger would be close behind, followed shortly by dread diseases we have not seen in this country for generations.

Apparently the U.S. government has modeled this situation on a national level. The 3rd hand reports I have seen on these studies have a worst case death rate as high as 99% by the end of the first year. I have no direct knowledge of these studies, but it is easy to see how this could happen.

Let’s hope and pray this does not happen. But it most definitely could.

FEDGOV will never let EBT run out because they control the printing press. They can always just print more money, thereby deflating the currency and placing the burden of supporting the FSA on everyone else.
