P.S. I haven't seen the recent Ben Stiller remake so I don't know how it compares but I quite like the 1947 film version.

This is one of our families favorite movies. Danny Kaye Classic. Worth watching!

I watched this a few weeks ago on TCM it was a lot of fun. In regard’s to Stiller’s version, I won’t see that until it is on On Demand.
I wouldnt be surprised if the remake is inferior.
I’m guessing it probably is. I’m not saying I’ll never watch the new version but I’m in no hurry to and am quite content with the Kaye/Mayo version of the tale.
I remember there was a cartoon spoof of it called “The Secret Life of Waldo Kitty” when I was a kid.
Another one of his I’m quite fond off is the WWII spy-adventure-comedy “On The Double” where he plays a dual role. If they ever put it on youtube or some other source, I’ll put it up for a MFASA.
I guess we all have our favorite Danny Kaye movies. Mine is THE COURT JESTER.
“The pellet with the poison’s in the vessel with a pessel”.
That’s the court jester. But another great film. :)
Or/and you could watch the TCM marathon-tribute to Shirley Temple, still on right now and continuing into this evening.....
The story might bear a resemblance to a few of the more violent, imaginary “scenarios” written in some of the informal discussions about the end of the world, survivalism, etc.
Many good, old movies have gone to the public domain and can be found behind the following link. Searches can be used to find the better ones.
For example, put the keyword, western, in the search box, just to the right of “collection:feature_films.” Don’t delete that phrase, but put the keyword behind it. Hit enter. You should now see a very long list of westerns and other movies with the same keyword somewhere on their individual pages.
Other good keywords would probably be railroad, racing, noir, detective, mystery, comedy, nuclear, earth,... Have fun.
As Bob Hope used to say, “Sit down and take a load off my eyes.”
Thank you! Have a great week!
It’s gone!
