Two Maine Coon brothers once owned me.
They were with me a long time, and are now buried in my flower garden. They were great kittehs.
Brush and comb your Maine Coons daily to prevent hairballs and matted fur--they will enjoy gentle grooming!

Maine Coon Cats are beautiful. We had a Maine Coon when I was growing up. Thinking about another.

We love our Maine Coon; the other two cats are not always so sure about him. Side-by-side he is an imposing figure; as big as a lot of small dogs.

And make sure you put away toys they can possibly swallow. This is my Mosi. She is now fully recovered after having surgery to remove a foreign object last December.

Our son recently lost his 18 year old cat, he said he was a Norwegian Forest but he looked just like a Maine Coon to me. Anyway, tuxedo, we called him Boris but also Bustipher Jones because when he was in his prime he was quite fat and walked like the character in CATS. He dominated any room he walked into. Other cats worshiped him. Dogs avoided him. Seriously, other cats would sit and gaze at him but knew better than to get too close. He lived for awhile with a large German shepherd and a Mastiff. He was totally the alpha animal. Very sweet with humans. He loved to be groomed. He did get mats. I was making my granddaughter a Christmas stocking one year and used a bit of his fur to help stuff it. Miss him. Great animal.

These cats are also notorious climbers. This particular guy did a high-wire act an the bannister in our loft. He fell, smacked his head pretty badly on the floor, and nearly died from the swelling in his brain. I posted a prayer request for him back in 2011. Thanks to that and the excellent care he received, Wilby Love is still with us. Thank you all for your support!

That’s a reminder to me to do something about the mess of cords behind our entertainment center before we get a kitten. I was reading another forum, and a woman made a distraught post about coming home and finding her cat dead from electrocution. He’d been chewing on cords.

Thanks for the tips on how to prevent injury to our precious fur babies. Those Maine Coon cats are
beautiful! Wish I had one.
