I can honestly say I’ve never liked a single movie Sandler’s ever made including the two you mentioned.

I totally agree with you on Jim Carrey. He just tries too hard, it seems to me and always comes off as too much over the top for the material. Like we’re supposed to think he’s funny just because of his facial expressions and such.

Two more comedians I can’t stand that come to mind are Robin Williams and the late Jonathan Winters. Both of them are also over the top in their deliveries, IMO.

That was my take on Carrey as well. Plus I’m a avid hater of toilet humor. I grew up on Eddie Murphy (Trading Places, Beverly Hills Cop). Very funny stuff without having to act like a moron. As for Williams: all I can say is ugh.

I agree. Phony voices and ham handed comedy is not only not funny, it engenders pity for the obviously desperate for attention.
