FULL TITLE: The moment woman jogger in headphones is knocked to the floor and handcuffed by cops because she didn't hear when they tried to ticket her for jaywalking
A female jogger out for a run in Austin, Texas, Thursday was arrested, handcuffed and hauled into a police cruiser screaming and in tears for allegedly failing to identify herself.
The entire incident was caught on video recorded by Chris Quintero, a student at University of Texas who was sitting in a cafe across the street and witnessed the woman being taken into custody.
The arrest took place just before 11am outside a fast-food eatery near the intersection of 24th Street and San Antonio Street in Austin.

I wear headphones every day when walking our dog. I have excellent hearing, even though I was exposed to weapon ranges, generators, diesel engine trucks for almost 40 years in the military, thanks to hearing protection. I can still hear an electric golf cart coming down the road from behind.
Forgot to ping you to this post.
She was wearing headphones. Regardless, people like me would have decided to defend myself first and worry about who it was later.
“how does that jive with Miranda Rights?”
They “read” your Miranda rights to you in Morse code, with their batons, on your head.
She knew who it was. Wearing earphones is a poor excuse for not being able to hear and an even poorer excuse for not seeing the police officers motioning for her to stop. She knew what she was doing and played up the crying for the camera.
When you assault a police officer, let me know, Girlene. I would love to be there to hear your lame excuses...that is, of course, assuming the other police officers do not “over react” and take you out.
Say you're driving down the road, minding your business and all of the sudden some air-head jogger wearing headphones bolts out of nowhere in front of your car.
What's the first thing you're going to do? You're going to stand on your brakes and hope the driver behind you does the same. But he probably didn't see the jogger and now you've been rear-ended. Hope your neck's ok.
Now you're probably thinking of some of these "really old laws" and wishing they were being enforced.
Well, if she's going to get busted for assaulting a cop she should have kicked him in the balls.
I got busted for assaulting a cop. And not going into exactly what happened he was completely in the wrong. So much so that they offered to drop the charges if I signed an agreement not to sue. So, yeah, maybe they were a bit over the top in this case considering they were targeting jaywalkers.
lol.....I’ll let you know.
I would never intentionally assault an officer - I don’t have a death wish.
Listen, I am very respectful and appreciative of law enforcement. But respect goes two ways. Any man/person who comes up behind a woman (especially with earbuds in) and grabs her arm/hand from behind is acting in a very intimidating manner. Instinct alone is to defend one’s self. Maybe you don’t think like that, being a man. A woman should.
A law enforcement officer should know that.
Now you can have the last word on this matter.
Argue for jaywalking laws all you want, but let's be clear here. This jogger didn't bolt out of nowhere in front of a car.
Bootlicker
Most sixth graders would write a sentence that was more coherent....
BTW...,
Bootlicker....
It's amazing that I spent 3 years teaching English to college students at the University of Connecticut with a sixth grade education. They must've been really dumb....
Stop jogging and obey me or you will be chained, cuffed and thrown into a cage!!
Its probably a good thing she did not turn around and kick the police officer. Doing so would likely have resulted in felony charges.
Oh yeah....5 years in prison for the little princess....That'll fix you, ya little joggen b*tch!
It also happens in Texas because plenty of Texas “conservatives” have hitherto excused, downplayed or ignored these and other such abuses.
“If she had been smart, she would have run as fast as possible and left the two donut disposal machines drop due to cardiac arrest.”
I believe she could have out run them too. However like the article says and you can see in the pic if you look closely she was wearing headphones. She did not hear them. Had she heard them she could have outrun them. That is the trouble with headphones they lower your ability to sense danger.
Look at my reply #101 above. I wear headphones every day, but can hear electric golf carts on the road. It all depends how loud the noise is blasting into your ears.
I have tried to warn people wearing headphones or ear buds that I can hear over my radio headphones. Once hearing is lost, it is lost forever.
