Unfortunately, I have to agree. They were taken in large numbers in New Orleans without a single shot fired in response.

That was a little different as the hurricane shock and awe had just come through and many were without neighbors due to evacuations.
Many Yankees thought they had it in the bag in 1862 because New Orleans and Nashville were easily taken but they were in for some tougher campaigns down the line.
