Danica will have a bad race and blame it on someone else.
I haven’t kept up with Nascar but remember when I was in high school in the mid to early 60s.
It was Ford vs Mopar. Daytona was the big one. I can remember when the 426 came out and Plymouth finished something like 1-2-3. All the Ford guys were devastated.
Still lots of events this week leading up to the big race, including the Duel.

I predict Ricky Stenhouse will run into her and say that he “hit something hard”. LOL!
Is Ricky Stenhouse actually Lazamataz? He's always hitting something.

Thanks
The Ford 427 SOHC was banned from Nascar. The Hemis wouldn’t have stood a chance against them.
Is that the engine used in the Ford GT?
I had a professor in college who raced Nash Healys back in the day. He may have even driven in Le mans but I can’t remember for sure.
The GT 40 ran the 427 side oiler, which head a wedge type head.
The SOHC was based on the FE block like the side oiler but had HUGE heads that had a single cam in each head.
Here is a 427 side oiler
Notice the difference in head size.
No I was talking about the ones used in 1964 and that era.
Why was the single overhead cam version banned by Nascar? Was it not available on production cars?
Most likely because the Rule Book states Push Rod V8
LOL! Probably Richard Petty
PING for the truth?
The engine made it into just enough production cars.
Chrysler pushed Nascar to ban it. I'm not sure on what grounds though. About the only one I heard was that it would push speeds to high. I've looked around to see if anyone has put a SOHC in a GT40. I've read of maybe a couple of people talking about it, but haven't seen anything definitive.
Its a BIG engine, in a not very big engine compartment.
It would be a beast of a car.
car-b-qued pace car?
