Here’s a feature that today’s cars dont have:

Windows.

The cars I grew up with had ‘em. Lots of large easy to see out of windows.

Todays cars? Most come standard with back up cameras and lane change warnings. Why?

BECAUSE YOU CANT SEE OUT OF THE DANG THINGS.

(I’m on a rant here. Bear with me.)

Todays cars (Yeah, Chrysler 300, I’m taling about you) have tiny little gun slits for windowss. Others have HUGE C and D pillars that make it impossible for you to see outside the car unless you totally rely on mirrors.

The Ford Escape was a great looking SUV. Large square windows that made it easy to drive and to park. Then Ford screwed it up and now Escapes are slopers with poor visibility. And (HA HA!) their saels are down.

/rant off.

At new car auto shows, I’ve tried sitting in the back seat of some of those cars, my head touches the rear window. Can’t be safe for riding, let alone getting in an accident.

Rear windows that- heaven forbid - went all the way down! And what is with the ones that go down almost all the way but leave 3 inches to go just so you can’t put your arm down.

You can hate the “slopers” if you want, but Ford Escape sales are not down with the new design.

http://www.automobilemag.com/features/news/1401-ford-sales-december-2013/

**************

The Escape ran almost neck-and-neck with the Fusion in December, although the crossover managed to slightly edge out the sedan for sales. That performance pushed the Ford Escape to its best sales year ever, with a total of 295,993 sales last year — a 13.4-percent year-over-year increase and enough to make the Escape the second best-selling Ford of 2013. That could be enough for the Escape to finally unseat the Honda CR-V from the top of the crossover sales chart.

So true, but once you get used to it, the back-up camera is much better than turning around and looking.

So what have I learned to love about modern cars that I cannot do without?

- Laser cruise control that keeps you at a certain distance from the car in front no matter what your set speed is.

- Blind spot warning sensors.

- Warnings if you are closing in on the car in front too fast. Some will even stop for you if you turn it on.

- A sensor that shuts the outside vents when it detects another cars exhaust.

i can’t stand what they did to the new escapes.

they went smaller to compete with honda cr-v and toyota rav4, and other small suv’s.

they should have kept the escape the same type of vehicle as it was, and created a new smaller suv to go after the other smaller ones.

the former escapes have very good visibility all around.
