“was one of the most popular child stars in Hollywood history”
Faint praise from BBC. She was the #1 Hollywood star, child or adult, male or female, for most of the 30s.
And, of course, a conservative.
Rest in Peace Shirley Temple. I did not know she was still alive. She was an Ambassador to Ghana at one point and later to Czechoslovakia, and I’ll bet she was a charming ambassador at that.
Rest in Peace little angel and lovely lady.

I remember that Shirley Temple was often attacked for her Republican Party affiliation. Many years ago in a story I read in a magaize, she was asked by an interviewer why she was a Republican. The way the interviewer asked the question was more along the lines of the interviewer was somewhat stunned that Temple was a Republican. Like, why would you want to be one of those stinking Republicans? Yes, the press was pretty biased even back then, forty or fifty years ago.
I never read the News — too depressing

On Monday (February 10) the actress reps officially confirmed that Shirley Temple is not dead. She joins the long list of celebrities who have been victimized by this hoax. Shes still alive and well, stop believing what you see on the Internet, they said.
Some fans have expressed anger at the fake report saying it was reckless, distressing and hurtful to fans of the much loved actress. Others say this shows her extreme popularity across the globe.
