The day after the next Daytona 500 Champion is crowned, NBCSN introduces NASCAR AMERICA, a new 30-minute daily show dedicated to the nation's longstanding fascination with speed and stock car racing. Making its debut on NBCSN at 5:00pm/et on Monday, February 24, and returning each weekday at the same time and place, NASCAR AMERICA will cover the sport from all angles, delivering news, highlights and access to NASCAR's dynamic stars and personalities. Originating from NBC Sports Group's International Broadcast Center in Stamford, Conn., as well as a new NBC Sports' studio located in Charlotte, N.C., NASCAR AMERICA's primary host is Rick Allen. Allen, who will usher in NBC Sports' live coverage of NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series racing as lead announcer in July 2015, will interact daily with NBC Sports motorsports reporters Marty Snider and Kelly Stavast. Snider and Stavast, both based in Charlotte, N.C., will operate on location throughout the country to deliver the latest news and features on NASCAR's drivers and race teams. NBC Sports Group's IndyCar and Formula One play-by-play voice Leigh Diffey will also serve as host of NASCAR AMERICA. Alongside Allen in the studio will be a constant rotation of guest analysts offering fresh perspectives and insights. Guest analysts who will join NASCAR AMERICA throughout February and March include NBC Sports NASCAR analyst Jeff Burton, Sprint Cup Champion Bobby Labonte, Kyle Petty, Ken Schrader, and crew chief Frank Stoddard. Future guest analysts, which will include former and current drivers and crew chiefs, NASCAR executives, and even prominent fans such as NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams, will be announced at a later date.(NBC)(2-11-2014)
NASCAR team co-owner [#4,#10,#14,#41] Gene Haas knows there are those who doubt his ability to field a Formula One team due to the failure of USF1 about five years ago, but that's not keeping him from taking the next step in his pursuit of one. Haas was scheduled to file the next part of his F1 application Feb. 10. He already has paid a $5,000 application fee. "I think they said their final selection would be in March, something like that," Haas said during Charlotte Motor Speedway's annual media tour. "I think we have a shot. I don't think it's a great shot. I think it could go either way." Haas said F1 could decide to grant one team a license or it could elect not to add another organization. Haas said he had met with Bernie Ecclestone, the president and CEO of Formula One Management and Formula One Administration, and admitted Ecclestone was skeptical about his ability to field a team. If Haas' F1 aspirations become reality, the team would be based in the United Stated. Haas said he would need to begin his operation with a veteran F1 driver so he could help "sort out" the car and "then someone else that could bring some money in."(in part from RacinToday)(2-11-2014)

Morton Buildings announced thier sponsorship of NASCAR drivers Kevin Harvick and Jeff Burton. Morton Buildings will sponsor Kevin Harvick in both the Sprint Cup and Nationwide Series, primary sponsor for two Nationwide races. at Indianapolis in July and Kansas at October. NASCAR has transformed its research and insights capabilities, giving the racing-car circuit's commercial partners - like Coca-Cola - a deeper insight into return on investment than ever before. Sean Doherty, NASCAR director/digital and social-media engagement, told an American Marketing Association (AMA) webcast audience: "The Coca-Cola Co. came to us and wanted a brand analysis for each of their drivers. They wanted share for each driver; how each one engaged with fans; and the size of their social footprint. They wanted to be able to activate their brand against a track, a race, or off site as well." Stepping up to that challenge, said Doherty, "We had to transition from a PR department to a fully-integrated marketing communications model. We took a deep dive into the industry's position relative to digital and social media. We researched the way that fans experienced our events. And we looked at the way people consumed other sports and entertainment properties. We searched for growth markets to attract new fans to the sport. And we also took a critical look at our current portfolio of drivers." NASCAR found a partner to give it the tools required to make this transition, as information technology group Hewlett-Packer designed and created the Fan and Media Engagement Center. This research facility features 13 screens of 46 inches in size, as well as three work stations and the analytical tools NASCAR needs to help race-car teams, tracks, sponsors, broadcast partners process more data faster. The facility provided Coca-Cola with the insight it needed, as well as securing engagement from a group of other Fortune 100 companies, including Sprint, Goodyear Tires, MillerCoors and ExxonMobil.(Warc)(2-11-2014)
NASCAR Now Returns for Start of NASCAR Season:
ESPN2's NASCAR news and information program NASCAR Now returns as the 2014 NASCAR season begins at Daytona International Speedway. The season's first episode will air Tuesday, Feb. 11, at 2:00am with host Mike Massaro. A three-hour edition will air Thursday, Feb. 13, at 12:00noon on ESPNEWS with news and driver interviews from NASCAR Media Day in Daytona. Cole did the Jeff Gordon thing, coming from Cali and living in here Indiana for a while, winning the USAC midget championship in 2008 at age 17 which is an impressive accomplishment in my view.
He hasn’t progressed quite as quickly in stock cars as I expected.

Martha Earnhardt, mother of the late NASCAR Hall of Famer Dale Earnhardt, in an exclusive interview with Steve Byrnes on today's edition of NASCAR RACE HUB on FOX Sports 1, talked about the return of the #3 to NASCAR Sprint Cup Series competition. Richard Childress Racing, who owned the #3 that Earnhardt drove at the time of his tragic incident at Daytona International Speedway in February of 2001, is once again utilizing the #3 for Sprint Cup Series Rookie of the Year candidate Austin Dillon in 2014. Here is what Martha Earnhardt told FOX Sports 1: "I have mixed feelings because I was told that I would never see a number three on the race track after Dale died. I can understand it to a point. I know it was Richard's [Childress] number when he drove and this is his grandson, and I understand that. As long as they don't make it look like the number three. If they painted it a different color ... I can sort of deal with it, but I don't want to see the black number three just like Dale's. But that's not my decision."(FOX)(2-12-2014)
