Cold here in Cincinnati. Got down to 1 degree last night, warms up to 20 today and then down to 2 again tonight. We won't see 25 degrees for a week.

Which leads me to ask a gardening question.

My dad used to say extended cold streaks would kill insect eggs. Any proof of this? Can we expect less insects this year?

We have been below zero most of this week and with the wind chill thrown in—like I said bitter freezing cold.

I have no scientific research on the subject, but I would agree with your Dad. It seems to me we usually have more pesky insects when the winters are warmer than usual.
