It was 50 years ago today that The Beatles landed in America for the first time. Could any other group ever hope to top the talents of these beloved moptops? Well ...Yeah, yeah, yeah! Check out 11 bands that I think took the Fab Fours pop revolution and made it even better, way beyond compare

Yep, that was my gag. It was his first post-Beatles band.
I'd hope so. The Beatles broke up in 1970.
Most musician/groups's first album is the best as they had multiple years to generate good stuff before they became "overnight" successes.
I actually love the whole movie.....Good tune!!!!
I was also very fond of Peter Gabriel and Phil Collins’ 70s band Genesis. Gabriel was an amazing performer, amazing. Collins by himself was not as good. Also loved the Eurhythmics, and still love Annie Lennox; but neither they nor Genesis was what you would call a Top Ten band, in the sense that their music was so intelligent it did not have wide appeal.
Let’s see most #1 singles, most #1 albums and at one time held all five top spots on the singles charts. Clearly the Beatles do not deserve to be on the top ten of all bands. Right.
"When Hickey was 15, he started traveling with his sister Chicky Evans, an exotic dancer. She was very popular in the carnival circuits and together they traveled for about a year. "
Did I hear someone mention polka?

Later in life, I returned to the C&W that I heard as a little kid. Don Rich's work with Buck Owens and the Buckaroos may be underrated elsewhere, but not in my house.

“As far as raw musician`s talent in a band, ELO: The Electric Light Orchestra. Go to youtube for a free sampling of their works. “
Same with Boston. “More than a Feeling” is the song that compares speakers.
LOL!!!
I’m strongly attracted to Chick Singers, in general...
I dunno. Maybe Thorogood and the Destroyers fit that bill better, at the risk of me changing horses in mid-rock memories.
bu-bu-bu-bu-bad
I agree with you about the Springsteen stuff but Manfred Mann’s “Solar Fire” album from 1973 is great!
I agree with Zeppelin, The Band, U2, Tom Petty and The Stones. but I could list 50 bands that I prefer over the Beatles. which is not to say that I can’t appreciate The Beatles music for what it is.
“musical impact that the Beatles made on the world “
Elvis. Elvis had an earlier and a greater impact.
The statement you made has been repeated to the point people believe it, but there hasn’t been any measureable statement to that. I think many American acts in the 1950’s had greater impacts as they changed much of the world of music, from how they dressed to the instruments used to even how their music was delivered.
At the time I was collecting and playing a lot of Credence Clearwater Revival (CCR), The Who; The Doors; Electric Light Orchestra (ELO); Emerson, Lake, & Palmer (ELP); Pink Floyd; The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band; The Eagles; America; and others.
yeah.........forgot about them. They're incredible, live.
Many, many moons ago, they played my hometown. they got snowed in, so the *next* night, they did another show at the same bar - free to whoever could show up. Both shows were top-notch.
And yes, it was smoky bar-room, in the basement of a building that was a little dilapidated in one of the more run-down sections of town. Perfect venue.
Lots of bourbon, scotch, and beer being consumed, but only one at time. :-)
