OK. I looked up MAME. That is definitely something to look into. I loved JOUST!
I just downloaded NFL Game Day from about 1999 or 2000 or something. lol.
Those would be okay except for the fact that they have to logon to a network at some point to either pull a worklist, or actually send the images.
If it were a standalone device, I guess I wouldn’t be as worried.
I installed MAME from the Ubuntu repository but I have no idea where it went. lol.
DUH
run from Terminal.... heh
For an old tech challenged man like me, would I be better off buying the DVD version for $5.95?
Thanks for posting. For later.
How do I configure MAME to look in the right folder?
Every time someone does a Google search, they use Linux. Google runs on somewhere north of a million Linux boxes.
i really need to get flight simulator up and running again
this was a stand alone devise, using a digital plate, was cool to look at the xray image, then the tech shut down the laptop and folded up his machine and rolled it back to his car
uh oh... maybe I should not extract the games I put in the folder?
If you are “challenged” enough that you are nervous about burning a DVD, That is certainly one of your options. If I were you, though, I’d find a friend that can do it for you, and save the money.
It’s been enough years since I’ve installed MAME, I cannot remember.
I’ll figure this out sooner or later.
MAME and the PS One emulator are in the Ubuntu repository but the GMAMEUI “front end of MAME” is not.
On the PS1 emulator, some games work fine (Marvel vs Capcom) some games are crap (NFL Game Day) and some have bad sound issues (Destruction Derby 2).
Although I plan to spend a few hours tonight downloading new games to replace the ones I don’t like. NFL Blitz, Transformers Beast Wars, Army Men- Air Attack among them. I want to try those out.
I want at least a good racing game, aerial combat game, football game and the like. At least 4-5 good games and I would be happy.
Is there a good, open source flight sim?
There is also X Planes but the scenery alone is 86GB compressed.

i found it in my PClinuxos 64bit repository so now to download it and try it out thanks
