Getting Started in Prepping
Survival Blog ^ | 1/14 | Jared B.

As a survivalist/prepper, I hear a lot of, "I don't want to be a prepper, but I want to be prepared. What should I do? How do I start?" So I compiled a lot of information from FEMA, Red Cross, and other places that have very "basic" information and started typing up a list for them. The four "basic" areas I decided would be a good starting point: getting your whole family involved, what to do before an emergency, what to do after an emergency, and emergency sanitation. I say "basic" because this is only a starting point! This by no means is all you should do. If you think it is because the government will step in ... I feel sorry for you. I tell this to everyone I give this information to and encourage them to research more and be ready for when "it" happens because you won't be able to find me in my secure well stocked locations.

“That would give her more time for a relaxing solar tanning session while enjoying a glass of sun tea.”
____________________________________________________
I do not think you understand the mindset or culture of a Filipina. Washing clothes seems to be their favorite exercise. I have often told her that she is going to wear them out from so much washing. You never see mechanical washing machines here. Most women would never use one.
I think she has bought our child so many clothes, only to have more to wash and wear to church !
My landlady, also married to an American from PA, is always on her porch scrubbing clothes. Frankly, I do not understand it.

My other point, tanning sessions on the beach is something you would never see here. All Filipinas have a natural tan.
Since the country consist of 7107 islands, going to the beach is like walking out the front door.

Last, but not least, you have witnessed the “dog in a manger” club, consisting of a few sad individuals that hate those of us who can enjoy our retirement by exploring other countries. As you saw, one or two of them are just filled with vile hate. If I did not love my home country, I would not be a 15 year member of FR, would I?
By the way, a group of us are having a FReeper gathering on the beach here within the next week or two. I am not the only FReeper in the Philippines.
God bless.

I am with you I would rather die standing shoulder to should with friends and family protecting our own on the soil that my forefathers bleed and died to protect than old, alone, and more than likely broke in some third world rat trap. Yes I might died under the heel of some despot or over whelmed by his zombies, but but I will at least be able to look those family members in the eye when I hopefully meet them and more importantly I will be able to say to my God:

"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith"
2 Timothy 4:7

But I can not abide the thought of dying a foreigner among strangers, who do not understand or have knowledge of my ancestors. Living out my days on earth like a shadow, without hope or a land of my own.

You can also mix DE powder (food grade Diatomaceous Earth) in with the grains. Its cheap and you put about a tablespoon in each bucket. It will kill any bugs that get into or hatch in the grain. It works quite well.

You can also freeze the grain before storing. The freezing will kill the bug eggs.

How interesting. Diatomacious earth is one of my favorite pesticides, but I also know folks who put it in their animal feed specifically to keep internal parasites down.
Never occurred to me to put it in my feed.
Alas, My freezer is too small to even temporarily store stuff.

As always, very well stated Kart. Tied up and bound and squirming on the ground while some dull blade wielding muzzie saws away at our necks while we beg for mercy in some third world is NOT the Manger Dog’s idea of the way to check out. We will stay right here in America with empty magazines at our feet fighting for our country if that is how it goes.

The freezer is 3 days. They sell the food grade DE at organic stores and online.

As you mentioned it is an option for treating internal parasites.

Damn straight, Dawg!

I can't tell you how proud I am to be associated with such a fine group of strong willed patriots. This very evening, I'm having words with a Freeper who incessantly spreads messages of doom and gloom on this board. He doesn't seem to get what poisonous rot those messages are to his patriot brethren. It's a breath of fresh air to open my pings and see such an uncompromising statement of resolute courage.

Thank you!

I notice our resident little odd ball is chiming in with his usual bluster!

Whatever does he do with his time other than skulk around here trying to sound superior, all the while sounding like an old fool who chose the cowards way?

Doesn’t he have a kid to tend to or something? Oh wait, I get it, the wifey is there to tend all the needs so he can scour threads and spread his joy!

Stay warm my fellow manger doggies! I AM old goat :)

Not much, I imagine. He's a pitiable fool who can't face his own cowardice - hence the incessant justifications for abandoning his nation and its people.

"This very evening, I'm having words with a Freeper who incessantly spreads messages of doom and gloom on this board."

It amazes me how many surrender monkeys there are on FReep. The "we can't win" chorus is everywhere. Even if we can't win, which I don't believe for one second, as they said in Repo Man (or was it Othello?), "I'd rather die on my feet than live on my knees."

But take heart, fellow dawgs...only 3% of the population of the colonies actually fought in the Revolution. The rest were either Torries, or just couldn't be bothered with that pesky task of fighting for their country...just like Alex the Chickenhearted. American courage and the blessings of God Almighty got our forefathers through the struggle to establish our Republic, and will get us through the fight to reestablish it.

The first site page of Burpee’s tomatoes look to average $6. Then you get to add on the shipping cost. All the more reason to save the seeds of whatever you’re growing.

Anyone who doesn’t know, tomato seeds need to sit in a glass of water for a few days until there’s a scum on the water. Rinse them in a strainer. Lay them out to dry and then store for next year.

I did a tour in a third world country. When I got back I gave myself a good dose of ivermectin. If I survived that, I reckon I could survive DE. I am only familiar with feed store DE, but I will keep my eyes open for people DE.

American courage and the blessings of God Almighty got our forefathers through the struggle to establish our Republic, and will get us through the fight to reestablish it.

Amen, W. As you said, only 3% of the early American colonists ever picked up a rifle to fight for America's freedom. About a third of the people supported them, while another third sided with the King - while the last third didn't care one way or the other.

Human nature hasn't changed a bit in the centuries since, so it comes as no surprise that we see the same sort of chickenhearted posts on FR that our forebears likely heard in the taverns and shops of their day.

What really galls me, is that such cowardly people have the chutzpah to hang around good patriots who are willing to stand against the tyranny that besets us. All I can say is that they'd better be glad that JimRob keeps the zot gun locked up where I can't get to it. I'd shut their contagious rot down tomorrow, if I could.

We're going to win our country back without those people if that's what it takes. Just like our forefathers did in their time.

Hey DOGS!!! Check out post #81. Once AGAIN the cowardly little man feels he is the only one enjoying their retirement and living location and he arrogantly thinks he is better than we who live in America. What a conceited joke! (Oh and we ‘dogs HATE him for his living in some third world or some traveling he has done!!!! LOL!!!) I will bet there are many, many, many FReepers who believe like I do, that we wouldn’t trade our retirements or where we live for anything. So the America, (or as the little man calls America....the ‘USSA’), bashing surrender monkey ran from here? Good.

I prep for economic catastrophes. This doesn't mean that it would be a huge crash, but something as simple as if I were to lose my job and not get one for some time.

Minor natural issues happen too - the heater going out, etc.

"Last, but not least, you have witnessed the “dog in a manger” club, consisting of a few sad individuals that hate those of us who can enjoy our retirement by exploring other countries."

Yeah...that's our ol' buddy Alex the Chickenhearted. Once again, he's intentionally lying about why we in the "manger dog pound" always call him out. We couldn't care less about his happiness -- if playing with a toaster in the bathtub made him happy, more power to him...pun intended. He and anyone else is free to pack up and head off to the Philippines, Uruguay, or wherever else...I don't agree with it, but it's their business. I can't speak for my fellow dawgs, but what pi**es me off about Alex is he bashes America on every thread he pollutes with his presence. He admits to not having paid his expat taxes in years, yet feels he still has the right to criticize the nation that gave him everything he has...including the Social Security he brags about being able to live off in the Philippines. He calls America the "USSA" while reaping the fruits of a Socialist system he helped create in his lifetime.

But wait...there's more! No only does he trash his former nation and his former countrymen, but he encourages other FReepers to turn chicken-a** and desert our country, just when conservatives and patriots are needed most. We brought this to Kim Rob's attention back over the summer, and Alex got the smackdown for it. Lately, he's been trying to start the recruiting machine back up, though not so blatantly. But he's not nearly as smart as he seems to think he is, 'cause we're watching him.

So you see, not only is Alex a piece of sh...uh, I mean work, he's a coward, a tax cheat, a hypocrite, a bald-faced liar, and apparently revels in treating his wife like a maid. Once again, that's probably why he had to go abroad to find a wife...no American woman would have his sorry carcass.

Don't believe his bullshiiiite. We wish him all the happiness in the world...over there. We don't want him back.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
