You know Silentgypsy, years ago military men thought it was funny to teach locals English phrases { and profanity } as a joke.

It looks as if they learned too well....

Yes, when I arrived in Thailand in 1962, the kids had already been taught to say "Yankee go home," while laughing. They thought it was a greeting.

There was a song about that by Rosemary Clooney: “Sailor boys have talked to me in English. Now I know all about the USA. The Presidente is Davy Crockett and everything in Texas is Vermont,” etc., etc.
