A short update on my hands and arms. I saw the new Neurologist, he scheduled me for an EMG which was done yesterday...the bad news; I have carpal tunnel in both hands/arms/wrists...I have to make an appointment to see my neurosurgeon, to see what he wants to do next. The neurologist says the weakness in my arm, up in my shoulder, could be coming from the CT from the process being interrupted in one direction so it goes the other way and gets my shoulder...does that make sense?
I’m not so sure I want to do more surgeries...I’ve heard bad things about this surgery, how it works for a while, but then gets bad again and requires more surgery that takes a lot longer to heal. Suggestions? Ideas that I can bring up to my doctor?
More prayers appreciated
oh, how I wish I knew more to advise you about! You’ve been thru so much, I certainly hope there’s some light for you soon at the end of this tunnel.
I had the surgery - nothing to it - I slept most of the next day, took a few pain meds then switched to advil - didn’t lift anything heavy for a few months. It worked perfectly.
Prayers going out for you.
BTTT
I had carpal tunnel surgery on both my hands and it was the best surgery I’ve ever had done.
I was very careful to not lift anything heavy afterwards, as they recommend, but I used my hands constantly, mostly my fingers to do light or details stuff. Things like writing, pinning something I was sewing, etc.
I did not need physical therapy afterwards. I did have a little trouble with numbness in my left palm for a few weeks but that resolved itself.
I have since been doing some exercises to keep the tendon loose. There are some online that are mostly stretching exercises.
It’s been several years now and I still have not had any recurrence of problems.
Lord Jesus, guide the doctors in their decisions and grant the virtue of endurance to Thy long-suffering servant.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, amen.
Prayers for you!! As a worker in His field, may Christ heal your hands and wrists.
Dear FRiend, I will be praying for you!
I am so sorry you are going through this.
I know many who have had carpal tunnel surgery from cashiers to church secretaries to accountants. They were all successful.
Prayers up! Thank you for the update!
Father God,
We stand on Your promises of healing and restoration.
By Jesus’ stripes we were healed. Jesus won the victory through His death and resurrection. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen
Psalm 107:19-21
Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress. He sent forth his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave. Let them give thanks to the LORD for his unfailing love and his wonderful deeds for men.
Exodus 23:25
Worship the LORD your God, and his blessing will be on your food and water. I will take away sickness from among you,
Psalm 30:2
O LORD my God, I called to you for help and you healed me.
Isaiah 53:4-5
Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.
Psalm 103:2-4
Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits— who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion,
Psalm 41:2-3
The LORD will protect him and preserve his life; he will bless him in the land and not surrender him to the desire of his foes. The LORD will sustain him on his sickbed and restore him from his bed of illness.
Psalm 147:3
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.
“...does that make sense?”
Not to me, but he’s the doc and would know what he’s doing. But since you’ve gone to him with the problem, and he’s diagnosed CTS, then if he suggests CT surgery, you should follow his advice.
You’ve made me curious about this, though, so wondering — did he say what causes the process to be interrupted — and what causes it to go the other way? Does he think you may have a worse case of CTS than the usual and that’s causing the interruption?
Maybe he was trying to explain referred pain. That would make sense to me. Although, I still can’t picture the interruption and reversing direction he’s describing.
Maybe a freeper in the medical field can help us understand. :)
