I have faith that the implant is going to help me...when they took the trial away it was like taking candy from a baby...it was cruel! And waiting so long for the permanent one is cruel too. I am praying I am making the right decision in getting this done. Its a huge step and one that I struggled with at first. I remember the few days I had the temporary unit in my spine, my legs didnt hurt, I could lay on my sides and they didnt hurt! My right hip still hurt like crazy and my back was horrible and my stomach hated me from the buzzing, it would make me sick when I ate! But when the tech messed with the unit before it was removed, she got the buzzing out of my tummy and all the way up my back to the middle of my back! It felt so good, I hated when they took it away!!
Went to the doctor on Wednesday...he asked me how long have I been having the increased pain...I told him that I had complained to his Nurse Practitioner for a few months now and that she has told me Hes not going to give you anything stronger, period. He said Ill have to have a talk with her, I dont like to see you in the much pain. He asked if the percocet was working at all anymore and I said not so much...even when I take 2 of them at once. He said quit taking those, Im going to give you dilaudid instead, and give you a numbing PATCH to put on your back...leave it on for 12 hours then replace it with another He wants to see me in 2 weeks to make sure my pain is being manage. I started the dilaudid a few days ago (as soon as I got through the pharmacy drive through) and so far it only helps at night when I take 2 of them with my nerve medicine and my sleeping medicine. I get the idea that the Nurse Practicianer could be losing her job for not talking to the doctor when I said I was in pain and she said I wasnt getting anything stronger. She didnt even TALK to the doctor, and I told him she said that and he confirmed that he didnt know!
Just found out one of the meds the doc wants me on is not covered by my insurance and it is $275 for a one month supply....no way I will be getting that one. :( The medicine the doc wanted me using is a lidocaine patch, 12 hours each patch then replace it. They say since my insurance wont cover the patch, they will do the cream instead...but I cant reach my back to rub a cream on and Im not comfortable asking my teenage son to rub a cream on my nude back (I am really fat). I am on gabapentin for nerve pain. Im on amitriptiline 50 mg to help me sleep. As for the new medicine...one 2 mg dilaudid doesnt do it. I take my middle of the night dose at bedtime...so I take 2 at bedtime as well as taking the gabapentin and amitriptiline. I manage to sleep with that cocktail but the rest of the day is still stiff and sore. Im hoping I can get the patches so I can get some relief! They talk it up like its a miracle drug. Maybe I can find out the name of the manufacturer and see if they can help me get them.
Also, my procedure to implant the spinal cord stimulator is set for January 27th...same day surgery, will be home that night. Really look forward to it, though Im still scared about having the unit in my spine.
Please, keep up the prayers. I appreciate them so much!

They say it is dangerous to your liver, when you weigh the 8 useless arthritis strength tabs of Tylenol I take against 1 10 mg of Toredol you can see which one would be better. They just came out with another bad report on Tylenol. Can't take the Osteo or NSAIDS except the Toredol or Tylenol. The Toredol also works on inflammation, they shoot ball players up with 30 mg IV if they get hurt in a game to get them back to playing the game. WHY am I any different that so over paid jock?
I have a call in to Catholic Charities. They are in a different county but I’m in prayer that they will help me here. I also have calls in to many other orgs and churches etc...people are trying to find me help, but still nothing solid. One person is angry that the United way would refer me to them instead of helping me themselves.
The only problem with changing doctors is that this doctor knows my case, they are thorough in making sure my pain is cared for (with the exception of the nurse being stupid). This one knows my issues and is treating them with 3 medications. What if I get a new doctor and they say “Heck no, I’m not giving you that!” I don’t want to change doctors, this one is treating my pain.
The “Coastal REgional” group I called is part of that system. They help through senior services, but I’m not old enough for that help yet. They are the ones who recommended I call the churches. The churches told me to call United way, and United way told me to call this other lady, which is the one who is mad because in her words “They have Millions...why won’t they help?”
You are still in my prayers. My implant is going to be rescheduled for mid February now...Praying it goes through! I’ll be praying for you on Monday too...just remember, don’t let them rush through the programming.
They also have a phone number at the end of the document to call if you dont know whom to call: 1-800-Georgia
Thank you for this resource. I called them. They could only refer me to the source I have already been using which is the source that is no longer available because of the Medical Board's decision. They also were primarily a source for those who are suicidal or homicidal.
You remain in my prayers that they do the right thing for you today. Let us know...and thank you for your prayers for me.
God Bless!
Thank you all so much for your prayers and suggestions. I am following up on all of them! Unfortunately I am meeting up with brick walls. I am still hopeful that SOMETHING will happen positively and I will be able to get to the doctor that I trust.
Just spoke to the NBC affiliate and told them my story. They are going to try to do a story on it, at least checking into it to see why the Medical board did what they did. Our hope is that it will shame the board into putting the excluded providers back on the transport eligible route. Going to find other news orgs and keep it up.
Father God,
You say, “All things are possible with God.” We ask in the name of Jesus that you will make a way for trussell to receive pain medication. We ask in Jesus name that pain is removed for God’s glory.
Amen.
Good, thanks for letting me know. Hopefully this will get something positive rolling for you ASAP.
Just made a call to the local affiliate for Fox news. The News Announcer I just spoke to is going to forward my information and some of my story to a reporter for validating the story and see if they can do something to get this fixed. She is also going to contact one of her associates and see if that person (an Angel as she called her) has any resources to help me. That angel has helped others that were in similiar situations in the past. This has lifted my heart and spirit so much...I truly feel as though something good is coming!
I like that!
:-)
Good news, and FOX NEWS!
Good!
I also spoke to the local CBS affiliate. After this, there is newspapers to contact. Is it ok to give the story to all of them?
Sounds like you just spoke with an angel.
