Former NFL punter Chris Kluwe wrote earlier this month that one of the reasons the Vikings released him was because he was outspoken on marriage equality. During an appearance on Olbermann Thursday, Kluwe compared his NFL plight to that of quarterback Tim Tebow, who was known as much for his religious beliefs as his playing ability.
“As much as we are polar opposites on the things we stand for, Tebow is the exact same way,” Kluwe said (via ProFootballTalk.com). “There are backup quarterbacks in the NFL right now that Tebow is certainly better than -- he could fill a role with a team. But because he brings this other stuff with him, just like I bring my other stuff with me, teams look at it like, ‘We don't want it. We don't want players speaking out. We don't want players doing anything other than football.'”

News flash: mediocre players who cause trouble/drama/unwanted attention usually don’t have much of a future.
Except you are only good enough to be a backup kicker and teams don't carry backup kickers.
Didn’t we go through this, not long ago, with an NBA player that languished on the “practice crew” and was growing “long-in-the-tooth?
I got a medocre performance review last year...maybe I need to start hitting on the guys around the office?
In the era of the salary cap, only the true stars have longevity.
Average players like Kluwe move up the salary schedule over the years and become too expensive relative to the value they can provide.
He’s correct only in that neither one of them currently have the talent to play their preferred position in the NFL. I love Tebow and really wanted to see him succeed but it is what it is.
When did Tim Tebow call a coach a bigot? When did Tim Tebow call a coach and general manager cowards? When did Tim Tebow say his goal was to see a coach get fired and never work again?
