Its hard for a woman to know what exactly to wear to deflect unwanted attention from men. Man Repeller Leandra Medine's pioneering attempts didnt exactly take. Luckily, Huffington Post editors have asked the male fashion geniuses in their lives to complete the sentence I hate when women wear
According to their survey, men hate when women wear beanies, floppy hats, hair bows, open-side shirts, oversize sweaters, shoulder pads, peplums, bandeau bikinis (they just make your shoulders look like a linebacker), bright lipstick, heavy eye makeup, fake nails, bangles, pointy-toed shoes, wedge sneakers, ultra-high heels, fold-over ankle boots (it looks like the shoes have), high-waisted jeans, high-waisted shorts, high-waisted skirts (it lacks a certain degree of subtlety), pantsuits (youre a woman, not a man), drop-crotch pants (really, any loose fitting pants,) and mullet dresses (I just don't get it where's the party? You are covering the back!"). The question is how to wear all of these things at once.
They don’t know about communism’s bloody history.
Ask a lot of women what kind of dress they think pleases men, and they’ll spit, “Men? Who cares what men like?”
It really isn’t rocket science. When a woman dresses to flatter her femininity and play up her female attributes, men will be attracted. And by that I don’t mean lace-and-ruffles femininity, nor do I mean dressing like a hooker.
As for men not liking “ultra-high heels”, well, maybe not the cartoonish platform four-inch things which cause women to walk awkwardly. But I have yet to see a (straight) man who doesn’t appreciate what a decent pump does for a woman’s carriage and the shape of her leg.
Open carry? :-)
Men think they like no makeup but dont really mean itthey mean they dont like heavy, obvious makeup. Most men like simple, natural looking( and long) hairstyles. Men like deep, dramatic colors and color combinations as opposed to pastels. Men like to see a woman in a dress or skirt once in awhile. Men, especially the pacific NW, are sick of seeing women wearing so much black(Im talking outerwear, not lingerie) Most men dont like floor length skirts and dresses for day wear. Most people, men included, dont like overuse of fragrance.
Most of this is gleaned from things men have told me over the years or what Ive figured out based on reactions, compliments, etc"
I agree with just about all of this. I would add that men tend to appreciate a well-fitting pair of jeans.
“My favorite look is a taller woman wearing a short dress or skirt; form-fitting slacks; or short shorts.”
Thank you for your honesty.
Given that I’m a “vertically challenged” woman (about 5’4” on a good day), I guess I’ll never have your, and perhaps many men’s favorite looks (e.g., tall, long-legged), but, that’s OK. I’ll add one of my favorite lines (not sure if I made it up or I heard it on an old Mae West film) - - you’ve never seen dynamite in a large package :-)
Go Hawks!!!!
This pic may take weeks to exorcise.....pardon me while I run away screaming.....
It’s nothing personal, just a preference.
VIKI which has Korean shows and some music video has a handy feature that supposedly lets you stop the vid and clip a short gif.
In real life I think Mae West was only about 5 feet tall and wore a size 5 shoe.
gorgeous shape is gorgeous shape, regardless of size.
Careful, that could be interpreted as insulting to our Muslim community.
I’ll remember that. Because I live Capris of other fabrics.
I love doing errands in Everett during a Seahawks game. Streets and stores so quiet.
I don’t mind a few on guys, preferably. But when you think of the money sunk into them, it’s a little depressing.
Also no like—exotic facial piercing and scarification, and those ugly peg thing people put in their earlobes to stretch them and those ugly black squiggle earrings. And Mohawk haircuts, most shaved haircuts on girls, and weird hair dye colors on anybody over 30. (I actually hate them on under 30 too but don’t want to be too much of a hard nose.) hate nail polish on guys.
Remember the most important women’s style icons of the 20th century: Jackie Kennedy, Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn and Princess Diana. I do. And I shop at thrift stores.
Oh, I just noticed that she’s an older woman. At least she’s not fat. Definitely not a look for people over 30.
I’ll be 58 next month. My short-shorts days are over. Except in private, while exercising.
I think those super high platform heels are manufactured for strippers and drag queens. If you notice they’re often in pretty big sizes.
General rule of thumb ladies: if a drag queen wears it, you should probably think twice about wearing it. They’re entertainers.
According to something called celebritysupper.com, Mae West was 5 feet tall,, wore a 6 1/2 shoe, measurements 38-24-38.
Sometimes what I have on is quite similar to what a Moslem woman would wear. Doesn’t bother me. I’m warm, comfortable, and modest. People treat me with politeness, and that’s all I ask.
That’s good.
