You say that “now” there is another generation only “recently” being sold in this country. Fine, now there is a new generation that is actually being sold. The new generation AA can be recharged 1,800 times up from 1,500 times. An 8 pack of the ones only recently for sale cost $6.26 more than the one that recharges 1,500 times, on Amazon. If you need more than eight batteries for the 1,800 times, add another $6.26 per each 8 pack. If 1,500 times is enough for you, save $6.26 for each 8 pack you buy. That is an economic question each buyer can decide.
Within six months, there will likely be another generation so a buyer can wait for that one and pay even more money. If you want to buy a 2014 car, maybe you should wait until later in the year when the 2015 comes out, however, if you wait more months, the 2016 will be out, etc., etc.
How you picked up such hostility to the version of Eneloops that replaced your older version, is baffling.
The gen3 Eneloop which are the ones I choose to own, have quality reflected in the 1800 versus 1500 charges, but there is more to it than that, they hold more juice at one year and they retain 70% of their charge at 5 years. Will they perform better in cold and heat? possibly, advances count.
LSD batteries only advantage is shelf life while holding a charge, non LSD rechargeables are better for many uses, for instance if you recharge your batteries frequently and use them a lot (because they can hold more power but self discharge over a short period of time).
