Full Title: EXCLUSIVE - 'Hung out to dry': Duck Dynasty star and family hit out at A&E for letting his controversial interview go public and for suspending him for homophobic comments

Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson and his family believe they have been ‘hung out to dry’ by TV network A&E after he was suspended for homophobic comments made in a magazine interview, MailOnline can reveal.

Sources within the close-knit Louisiana clan say they are convinced A&E are manipulating the controversial situation to bring them – and particularly Robertson – back into line after Television executives grew tired of the family pushing their deeply-held, Christian beliefs.

They also think the network could have done something to stop the controversial GQ article being made public, because an A&E representative was present during the interview with patriarch, Roberston, 67.

What you see is what you get. I have seen nothing phony about the Robertsons.

Of course, like all “reality” shows, the scripts are written and staged. But, their hearts are true. The love they show one another is also true.

Phil has served God in many ways. None of us is perfect, but he stands head and shoulders above the “self righteous” who claim their perversions honor God, or refuse to believe there is one true God.

Just call me a redneck, too, or a California Okie, as I call myself.

I really can’t get over the older generation being more smutty than the younger one.

It may be because Phil admits to be a reprobate before he found Christ. For some the change is dramatic and for others it's gradual.

Hey guess what.... do nothing at all then and wallow in all the filth you can get into your house AND pay them even if you do not watch it.

Have a nice day.

What power did A&E have to remove Phil from the show?

There are plenty of contracts that forbid certain types of speech or behaviors of celebrities so that they do not besmirch the name of the parent company. Phil already had YouTube videos out there prior to the tv show that told A&E what he might say. Which is why they had a minder for him in the interview.

Phil had the right to say anything he wanted in the interview - freedom of speech is fine. Apparently A&E has the right to remove him from the show when he becomes an embarrassment (their point of view).

I must be a “redneck” too. Well maybe not as the car isn’t on blocks and the tires hold air after 2 years. ;-)

I heard on Fox & Friends this morning that Phil had been warned about making such comments when their show went on the air. If he agreed to such an arrangement, then he shouldn’t have spoken out so forcefully in the interview.
I've read that early on when the show started, the producers had asked them to tone down praying and had inserted unnecessary < bleeps > to make it seem as if they uttered profanities.

The family confronted them at the time and told them to knock off the fake < bleeps > and that they were a Christian family who would continue to express their faith as they saw fit. If A&E didn't like it, they should cancel the show.

The producers backed down. I expect A&E will likely back down again, primarily because they are blinded by the dollar signs (certainly, not out of any moral sense of right or wrong) -or- wthere is the possibility we might see the Robertsons on a different channel, continuing to express their faith and even more emboldened to righteously denounce sinful acts.

Your posting would imply that you are not a viewer of the show. Catch it and see if you can see anything that looks/sounds as tho’ it’s been bleeped...
It was a published anecdote that happened during the first season and the way I remeber it, they caught it in screenings -- not sure if it ever aired. Phil gathered the beards and they confronted the producers and gave them an ultimatum to knock off the fake bleeps and that they were a Christian family that would continue to express their faith and they would understand if A&E wanted to sever their relationship. A&E backed down.

Archie (Carroll O’Connor) was presented as a dumb, low-life Republican who loved Richard Nixon. Notice the contrast between him and the Meathead? Meathead was the educated, liberal who looked down his nose at the common man - Archie. In real life, Carroll is a huge lib, as are most of Hollyweirdos.

Quick show of hands of people who have cancelled their cable or satellite teevee service because of this thing everyone is pretending to be outraged about...
Do you honestly believe that the ISP you are using would side with The Robertsons? Or do you think they would side with A&E?

Sanctimony is rarely a good option.

We ditched satellite ~5 years ago. Haven’t missed it for a minute. It got to where we had to pre screen EVERYTHING before we let the kids watch it. Who has time for that? Even the home improvement shows were rife with homo agenda nonsense.

We counted fully 1/3 of the couples on one show that were same sex couples. Yeah, that’s a valid representation of the real world. /s

Yeah, that’s what I thought. But hey, keep being the abused, mousy housewives and keep handing them your money every month. Fake reality teevee and wall to wall football and golf are way more important than the silly principles people pretend to care about.

Damn straight. To quote Wyatt Earp from "Tombstone": "I'm gettin' tired of all your gas, now jerk that pistol and go to work!"

“This is not about Phil it is about the ‘Bible’ and trying to make it hate speech....period. The very foundation our freedoms were founded on they are trying to make hate speech.”

Bingo! That is it exactly.

“It is time to choose, to make a stand. “

Yes, it is time. All this will work out, one way or another, over the next few years. It won’t be painless nor easy. And this country will never be what it once was.

LOL. I've been on the front lines against the Left.

Was your post aimed at someone else?

Well there you go. You had a point that is so right, no disagreement is appropriate. And you are very condesending about someone who disagrees with you. Why are you not surprised?

I just disagree with your coarse of action, but maybe you can enlighten me. When did people canceling their cable make a difference in the past? I mean when did they get the message? Has not happened to my knowledge, but they could cancel 99.99% of tv and I would not know.

What will you do the next time a network does this and you no longer have a service to cancel. What then, or did you not think that far ahead in your message sending? Call them and let them know you are really mad this time?

Anyway, nice hearing from you and hopefully you will be successful in your mission.

Why is an extremely extreme extremist advocating the continued funding of the left just for the convenience of being entertained?

I choose, to the greatest extent I can, not to do that. While a phone company may support some things, they are not able to bring it into my home. When, to make a phone call, I have to endure a commercial advocating perversion, they’ll get the ax too.

When the phone company censured me for expressing my beliefs, they’ll get the ax too.

But in the meantime, those of us who have had enough of allowing media to deliver filth to our home, we get mocked by extremely extreme extremists who’ve been on the front lines for a while, for taking that step in denying them financial support.

Truth be told, I watched DD a few times, and it didn’t appeal to me much. I’m not that into reality tv or sitcoms anyway, who has time for that?

Having said that, what I did hear, and this interview with GQ, did not strike me as particularly “smutty.” A bit crude, yes, but nothing even close to sanctioning of unbiblical sexuality.

As for the crudeness, yes, I wouldn’t say what he said the way he said it. I’m a lawyer, after all. Being blunt and obvious is something lawyers need special classes to learn. Seriously. But to some of the finest people I know, plainspoken frankness is as natural as breathing. Even the apostle Paul was “crude” from time to time. Remember that bit about all of the stuff in his life that wasn’t helpful to his relationship with Christ being “dung?” Or the part where he wanted the legalistic circumcisers to injure themselves where it counted (I paraphrase slightly)? If he were a poster here at FR, would he be judged “crude” for such comments? And yet how God used him.

No, I’m not saying Phil is comparable to Paul. I’m just saying one man’s crudeness is another man’s no frills plain talk. As for me, if the message is good, I don’t care too much about the packaging.

Look you don’t seem to understand the English language. Let me clarify. A contract that has language violating the law is an invalid contract. A contract that infringes religious speech is invalid per Title VIi of the the US Civil Rights Act. Nobody can sign their rights away to an employer.

I haven't had TV for 5 years. I am not tied to what liberals think is "entertainment". In the last 40 years I've had 3 TV's. When one died it was years before we bothered replacing it.

The problem is too many are tied to the boob tube and their bread and circuses. Sitting in front of a glowing box, being spoon fed liberal clap trap is not life. Not real life. You drink in their brand of fun. Enjoy.
