Full Title: EXCLUSIVE - 'Hung out to dry': Duck Dynasty star and family hit out at A&E for letting his controversial interview go public and for suspending him for homophobic comments
Duck Dynasty star Phil Robertson and his family believe they have been hung out to dry by TV network A&E after he was suspended for homophobic comments made in a magazine interview, MailOnline can reveal.
Sources within the close-knit Louisiana clan say they are convinced A&E are manipulating the controversial situation to bring them and particularly Robertson back into line after Television executives grew tired of the family pushing their deeply-held, Christian beliefs.
They also think the network could have done something to stop the controversial GQ article being made public, because an A&E representative was present during the interview with patriarch, Roberston, 67.

That’s not true.
I’ve been told to shut up many times in my years here. I’ve even been threatened.
The thing to do is to NOT SHUT UP. Doing that caves in to the bullies and snitches (which are legion) and just promotes more bullying and snitching.
Put a sock in it! You sound like a hand-ringing liberal. Phil did not do a damn thing wrong. The fault is 100% with A&E.
Usually such rude replies are removed. Remember way back when we joined? Wasn’t allowed. And other posters don’t have any way to silence those they disagree with. Like you, I’ll tell the truth no matter what someone else says.
Yeah. Guess what? They're still an evil liberal company. Ooogada-Boogada!
You too DJ. Your phone company likely funds progressive causes too.

“”But if there was a morals clause, Phil must say moral things like he did!””
I hate being a spoil sport but since no one else is going to say it, I will. Phil would be the last one to stand on “moral” grounds. I have stopped watching the show because of his “potty mouth”. I don’t think he’s funny at all - nor the mother - when she giggles at his sexual innuendoes which are not at all funny. Their sons don’t behave that way with their wives.
The last straw was the way he spoke to his granddaughter when she was planning her first date. His lines were not appropriate for speaking to a granddaughter. They were more appropriate for the boy’s locker room; high school and today probably junior high.
Her father Willie was giving her and the boy a hard time but he did it without embarrassing them. I never saw a show where the brothers showed disrespect to their wives. Can’t say the same for their father.
As to their proclaiming their deeply held spiritual beliefs and faith, I must have missed those shows. I see them sit at a meal at the end of each show and Phil says grace which might consist of - at the most - 6 words not counting the Amen.
I saw one show where Phil read to his wife from the Bible while she was was cooking. Ephesians 5:22 - “Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.” She replied, “How about the one where it says - “cleanliness is next to Godliness.” So they agreed that Phil should take a bath or shower and he later came out with a towel wrapped around his middle and the mother whipped her apron off leaving it up to the viewers to finish the scene. Oh! And Si was in the room at the time. How many here could say they’ve seen relatives behave that way?
I trust people didn’t miss the statement the family made after this story broke. The word “course” was used in the statement describing “some” of his words. I would use that word along with my own regarding Phil - crude and uncouth. I agree with the family. The question could have been answered with a little grace.
Truthfully, I would enjoy the show without Phil and even Si. I think people have been hornswoggled - realizing I’m in the minority here. But don’t forget it’s my right to say what I think! I feel better now.
Your choice.
I hope that you have a blessed day!
Looks like Duck Dynasty was set up by A&E. I’m done with A&E and plenty of other channels to watch.
I thin you just hit on something!!
Are they going to make duck calls illegal?
We should each go out and by a Duck Dynasty duck call. Maybe use them in “flash” crowds, or just when we need a “duck lift”.
I have read on FR that the Robertsons have complained that A&E “bleeps” words to make it seem like they are cursing when they are not. Other complaints were editing out as much Christian content as possible. Whether one believes the claims depends upon whether you think the left is honest.
Rest assured, had Phil said he was quoting the Quran, there would be no problem at all. Courage of his convictions and all that.
Duck Dynasty products benefit A&E. Duck Commander products belong to the Robertsons.
We did the same a few months ago. The vast majority of TV is garbage anyway and we didn’t see any reason to keep throwing our money at people who hate us.
Basically, we were shelling out a lot of money for one network we watched on occasion, one we watched regularly, and one cable show. What a waste.
Isn’t it sad that that is the truth?
I agree with Phil on this. My point is that cancelling cable or satellite is a sidebar issue and is the equivalent of spitting into a hurricane.
We need political leaders to speak out and tell the truth about the homosexual movement and its agenda. Two states just legalized gay marriage thanks to activist judges. What are Republicans and those in the social conservative movement doing about this? How come more haven't spoken out in defense of the Robertsons?
You can support the Robertsons and buy all their merchandise, that's fine. But the homosexual movement will just move into a different direction until more folks speak out against it without fear of backlash.
“I heard on Fox & Friends this morning that Phil had been warned about making such comments when their show went on the air”
It would be necessary to actually see the written agreement with A&E to know whether he agreed not to discus his religious views during the filming of the show or whether he agreed not to discuss them in any other context.
I ditched cable ten years ago. Didn't see any point paying for my kids to be indoctrinated with leftist filth and garbage. I'm glad to see that in the Duck Dynasty situation, the efforts of the leftist cabal to censor a man of faith have come back to bite them in the a$$.
That would be a ridiculous agreement, and given the family’s strong Christian beliefs, I have a hard time crediting the idea. The Robertson family are still individual private citizens and as such have a right to express their personal opinions/views. Phil was not representing A&E when he did the interview — nor was he representing the show created at A&E. This is no longer the “golden age” of Hollywood where studios can dictate what an actor/actress can and cannot say and put limitations on what they can do privately in order to keep their livelihood. Those kinds of “contracts” haven’t been around since the 40’s - or 50’s at best.
Exactly.
I just saw that. I don’t watch the program all the time and forgot that the company was called Duck Commander.
Thanks.
I just can’t handle Uncle Phil. Maybe, it’s because I’m grouchy and full of BS, too.
A close friend of mine, may he be resting in the arms of God, looked like, and could lie with a straight face like, Jase.
Love ya Sarge.
