I would like to appeal to Free Republic participants for help in locating the title of an old movie. I dont have a great deal to go on but my memory believes this much is known.
The movie is in black/white.
The star may have been Clark Gable.
The story was about newspaper reporters.
The reason for my questions revolves around the dialog between the star reporter and the cub reporter at an after work gathering. The cub reporter is asking the star reporter the difference is between a reporter and a journalist. The response is what I am searching for but if memory serves, the answer was that the reporter reports the news whilst the journalist stars in the news.
Any help would be appreciated.
I am also searching for a Ronald Reagan quote about the Post Office and the Telephone Company. The quote compared the increase in the cost of postage to the decrease in the cost of telephone communications over the past 100 years.
Again, any help in locating the source of that quote would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
It could be Teacher’s Pet. Gable plays a newspaperman there as well.
Might have been “Teacher’s Pet.”
Correct. And I found that by typing “Clark Gable newspaper reporter” into Google. Took me all of...10 seconds.
That's also a possibility as it has Gable as an old school reporter who scoffs at journalism.
I think it was “Godzilla vs Mothra”.
Very catchy title song
Also, a clip from the movie with Mamie van Doren
And a nice clip of the interaction between Gable and Day
A far, far different world...
Merry Christmas!
that was with DorisDay and was a later flick circa 1958 the earlier posters have it right
It hHappened One Night
Thx for that Ken. Very good film...much fun!
