Al Gore predicted the North Polar Ice Cap would be completely ice free in five years. Gore made the prediction to a German audience in 2008. He told them that “the entire North ‘polarized’ cap will disappear in 5 years.”

Well, in a way not intended, Gore was right. The Artic is “ICE-Free” if you mean no Ice-T, No “Ice, Ice, Baby” (Vanilla Ice), no Ice-Cube, no Katherine Sebelius (Miss “Cold as Ice” of 2013), Dr. Zeke Emanuel, a man with a heart of ICE, and Obama, a president with his brain on Ice”.
I sincerely hope the cooling trend doesn’t continue but there is nothing any of us can do about it. All 7 billion of us bending our backs and minds together wouldn’t change a thing.

It snowed today here in Chi area. Snow is better than bitter cold, a few days ago it was frigid, I got mild frostnip on my fingers. It never seems to snow when it’s that cold.

Back in the 70’s (with global cooling all the rage) some “experts” proposed covering the ice sheet with soot to darken it to absorb the heat. It’s worth a try! What could go wrong!!??
I imagine the cooling trend will continue, and I hope that it will cycle up and get warmer again as it has in the past. What IS a bit on the scary side is that we are near (or past) that time in former cycles when a true “Ice Age” has hit in the past. And more evidence mounts that the change can be very rapid (months to years) rather than decades.

I know and the glacial period of an ice age (actually we’re in an ice age now it’s just the inter-glacial period) typically lasts about 90k years. Where I sit now had a three mile thick cap of ice on it during the last glacial period.

Indeed; there is always the chance that something major happens in the remaining 15 days of the year, and all the ice disappears :-)
The truth is, global temperatures fluctuate regularly, like stock, index bond and commodity trading charts. Sometimes it is trending up, and sometimes down, but to assume that it will continue in the same direction indefinitely is folly. The global warming and ‘70s-new-ice-age people committed that folly regularly, and the MSM goes along with it because they are mindless lemmings.
