“A Canticle For Liebowicz”

Sigh, this book is not obscure, but it is to me. I have wanted to read this book ever since I read about it in “Seventeen” Magazine years ago.

I forget about it for years, then remember it (like now); I try and take it out from the library, all copies are taken; I try and buy it at the bookstore - sold out! Look for it on kindle - not available.

Will this book change my life if I ever get to read it?

I don't know about that, but it is very well written.

It's OK.

Not life-changing, IMHO.

You can buy it on amazon as a mass market paperback. http://www.amazon.com/Canticle-Leibowitz-Walter-Miller-Jr/dp/0553273817. You can also listen to it online. Warning: there are various scam .pdf's of this floating around torrents and web pages. Do NOT download them. They all contain trojans. If you drive a lot (I do) download the vogg or mp3 audio parts and burn them to a cd and listen to it in the car. https://archive.org/details/ACanticleForLiebowitz

No, A Canticle For Lebowitz will not change your life. In fact, it’s a pretty boring read.

I’m amazed that no-one (so far) has mentioned the Horseclans novels by Robert Adams. Post apocalyptic stories of telepathic barbarians- how can you go wrong with that? Unfortunately, the author died suddenly in the early nineties, with no designated beneficiary for his copyrights, so they’ve become obscure...
